I havent played it much, just about 3 hours into it I think. Other than the fact that the main character looks like something I drew, I dont have much of a complaint atm. I like the liscense system, though its obvious that VGcats has issues with it (http://www.vgcats.com/comics/?strip_id=215).

Like Dai, I'll give the game a fair chance, I've already heard a lot of people saying its competing with FF8 for worst FF ever, but I have never payed much attention to what the "people" say.

hahaha... I just read that and it's awesome.

The LP thing is retarded. I can understand using it for skills and magic... but armor and weapons. That's a bunch of $h17!

I still bought the game, and I will still play it. The game looks incredible. As a matter of fact, it kind of pisses me off when I see reviewers give it less than a perfect score for graphics.

Gamespot gave it a 9 for graphics. They say they review based on the system and what is out for it at that time.

So my question is... what out there has better graphics than FFXII?

The only game that you can even begin to argue is Okami.

I like the license system... I mean, it makes alot of sense. Ivalice can't have any Joe Shmoe carrying around a masamune, they better know what they're doing. So why not create a license program that forces said Shmoe to have tons of experience wielding all sorts of swords before they let him at a legendary one. Now, it is definitely a detraction from your standard "I bought it, so I can equip it" RPGs, but it makes sense. Besides, as easy as it is to get LP, finding a weapon that you can't equip and don't know where it is on the license board isn't likely. I find it refreshing...

I see the LP system as development points. You know like in D&D you have to develop a sword skill before you can use a sword and you have to develop each sword differently because differently swords are used differently. I guess I just like the table top technicalities of it.

Just seems useless. You are right... not any Joe Shmoe should be able to use a Masamune... That's why only certian characters should be able to equip certian weapons.

Ninja's can equip Masamunes.

Just like only White or Red Mages should be able to cast Cure.
And only Black or Red Mages should be able to cast Fira.

If you are going to go with what you just said, then there should be a skill based system. All I have to do is buy a license and I can use this weapon. Sure, ok, but you suck with it until you have enough experience with it to do good damage. VI kind of did that. Just you couldn't use it until you had the right amount of experience with it.

Hahaha. If it wanted to compete for worst FF Game ever in -my- book, it'd have to rival fecking FF7, and I don't see -that- happening anytime soon. You can't get much cruddier graphics, and only FF8 had competition for cruddiest lead characters, because at least Tifa was cool, even if Aeris and Cloud sucked hard. Rinoa and Squall both were crud and they didn't have a secondary lead chick to make up for it.

Anyhow, I love looking at it. I haven't had a chance to pick it up and play yet, but I'm sure I'll like it when I do. I'm sad to think there may not be a character I get attached to, though, so it's not going to rank up there on my top three.

Now granted, I could see certain cultural differences in familiarity with weapons but (also in agreeance with D&D 3rd edition) I think "classes," per se are a thing of the past. This is progress imho. This is a more customizable gaming experience. Not only can you decide WHO is the mage but you can also decide WHAT that mage can do, equip, etc! It puts more of the gaming decisions in YOUR hands. I've always hated that in most Table Tops RPGs certain races couldn't be certain classes. OOOO anger! Now my belief in this kind of freedom (albeit culturally challenging) is valid and encouraged. Kudos, I say!

I'm a traditionalist then in this case. I loved FFIX!

X, the whole system annoyed the crap out of me to be totally honest.

XII looks really good, and I will play it. And I may feel differently about the LP stuff afterward. But there are just so many things I can see just by watching it that could have made it better.

I hate seeing useless characters... ie those that are "in your party but not in your party." If there are 6 people in the party, shouldn't all of them be able to help in the fight. Instead of 3 of them saying... oh you have to wait until next time!

If you are going to have party members that don't fight, they should at least still get exp. At least a fraction. Leveling is too tedious when only half your characters are getting experience points. And sure, you can switch mid battle. More ways to make battles tedious.

Also, you can have a 4th character as a guest... why can't you have a 4th character when there isn't a guest around. So just b/c you don't have a guest you have to suffer in battle by having 3 instead of 4?

You have my total agreeance on this point, bro. To Hades with this idea! Hopefully when gaming engines are a little stronger they'll be able to do this right! If they allowed you to have a character for just a little bit and then made him/ her/ it a game NPC that would even be better to me. But to have a character there and not be able to use them BUT be able to switch them in and out during combat is DUM DUM DUM DUMB!!

Dude this has just given me an awesome idea for a campaign!! Oh to RP again!!!

I love it! I think it's a lot of fun! Kitty The only thing I would change is the fact that you have to buy all of your spells, and even if you have all of the licenses for them, you still have to wait to find a store that carries what you need. Not just the same old level one of everything. >.< Maybe things will change though, I'm only like 20 or so hours into it. I really liked that you could change your party members mid battle. It made chaining quickenings on bosses and depleting their HP a lot easier. Devil

Oh! And even more awesomeness. The female lead isn't a total wuss! She can actually do things and participate in battle without you having to worry about healing her every five seconds! Very Happy Finally!
