"Sony announced they will begin to sell downloadable PSone games tomorrow, 10 PSone games will be available, and new games will be adding each month. The service is currently available in Japan only. Here is the list of games:

* Biohazard Director's Cut (Capcom) - 525 yen
* Jumping Flash! (Sony) - 525 yen
* Minna no Golf 2 (Sony) - 525 yen
* Tekken 2 (Bandai Namco) - 525 yen
* Konami Antiques: MSX Colleciton Vol. 1 (Konami) - 525 yen
* Konami Antiques: MSX Collection Vol. 2 (Konami) - 525 yen
* Bishi Bashi Special (Konami) - 525 yen
* Arc the Lad (Sony) - 525 yen
* Silent Bomber (Bandai Namco) - 525 yen "

This is just for PSP right now but I doubt the PS3 service will be far behind. I would have the DLs work simultaneously or possibly stagger them (PSP games on Weeks 1 and 3, PS3 games on weeks 2 and 4). Listwise I think it's not that smart a decision to do too many sequeils unless they've changed the series or are rpgs. Offerring Tekken 2 at this stage (when Tekken 5 is out) seems kinda dumb to me. the Biohazard (Resident Evil) series is diff tho since the storiy is always a little different.

You also have to have Firmware Version 3.0 or grater as well as a PS3.

If you do not own a PS3 it'll just crash.

You have to own a PS3 to play PS1 games on your PSP? And they wonder why people used hacked versions and roms.

Just one of the many reasons why I traded in my PSP for a DS in the first place.

(And FYI, the PSP only cost me $40 to begin with, so it wasn't much of a loss.)

Sony is not going to do well with this strategy...

PS games for PSP now on PS3
Sony updates its new console's PlayStation Store with five older games that work on the company's handheld system.

Sony took its first steps into the world of retro gaming today when it updated its PlayStation 3 online storefront with downloadable versions of five original PlayStation games that can be enjoyed on the PlayStation Portable.

The first slate of PS games to arrive on the system include a sampling of Sony-published PS hits, as well as one title from third-party publisher Namco. The currently available titles are Sony's Crash Bandicoot, Cool Boarders, Syphon Filter, and Hot Shots Golf 2, as well as Namco's Tekken 2. Each game costs $5.99 and carries a disclaimer that multiplayer functions in the games won't work because the games have not been altered to support the portable system's Wi-Fi functionality.

To play the games, customers will need to first download the games to their PS3s from the PlayStation Store, then transfer them via a USB cable to a PSP with a memory card that contains enough free space. The games range in size from 157MB (Hot Shots Golf 2) to 535MB (Tekken 2). Once downloaded, each game can be copied for use on up to five different PSP systems before it locks itself.

The whole idea of playing OLD games is to make the experience quick and easy (plug and play basically). So Sony's mandating that you have a $600 PS3 so that you can spend $6 on a crapass game to put on a $40 1Gig mem card to play on your $200 PSP? Sounds like theory is sound for Sony...$900 spent to play Tekken 2. You've got to be kidding me.
TRhen o top of it, the games tehy've released are all crap. I've said before, if you're going to release a sequel, make sure it's comperable to what's out now (since the older game is going to have to run on modern hardware). Unless it's an rpg or something with a different story (ResEvil, Castlevania, etc), you'd be an ass to pay for these games.
Cool Boarders?
Crash Bandicoot???

I'd rather see Jumping Flash, or Gunner's Heaven (the PS Gunstar Heroes ripoff), or even TohShinDen, for cryin' out loud!

9 games released in Japan... but the problem is...

Does anyone really give a crap?
At least they have the price per game right! $5 is resonable. That is... if you already have the $600 system.

9 New PSOne Downloads on PS3 in Japan
Still no way to actually play them on PS3, though.
By Dan Dormer, 12/20/2006
Even though there's smaller PlayStation 3 install base in Japan, Sony has decided to release nine more PSOne games for download via PlayStation Network over there. The latest are a mix of of bigger titles and niche releases, suggesting there's some modicum of thought going into the title selection.

The games are as follows:

* R-Types
* Dino Crisis
* Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure
* Mr. Driller
* Taiyou no Shippo: Wild, Pure, Simple Life
* The Conveni: Anomachi o Dokusenseyo
* Gekitotsu Toma L'Arc: L'Arc-en-Ciel vs Tomarunner
* Global Force
* Migi Hadari U-SA

All of these games are available for 525 yen ($5).
