If that person was as nice as this PO looks like, this must have been a wonderfull person. But you know, I am sure we have more then one soulmate in this world, since if we can always find someone stronger then us, or better then us, we can also always find someone better FOR us. But when in a relationship, nowdays people keep searchin even when they are in couple. I say that, even if you can find a "better better half" in the world, you shouldn't keep looking for better if you are in a healthy and sane relation with your curent better half. Of course, if you are no longer with her, which happens to be your case, that can motivate you to start searching again.
