May 4, 2006 - Variety reports that 20th Century Fox and Marvel Studios are seriously considering having the Silver Surfer appear in Fantastic Four 2.
The Silver Surfer has had his own movie in-development at Fox for years but it boasts a heavy special effects price tag and the studio has been keen to develop its other superhero franchises.
But now the trade claims Fox and Marvel are, as they did with the X-Men films, developing two scripts for FF2 simultaneously.
One draft is being penned by Mark Frost, who co-wrote script the first FF, while the other script is being written by Don Payne (My Super-Ex Girlfriend).
Variety claims Payne's draft, which features the Silver Surfer, is considered the "frontrunner" to be produced.
Fantastic Four 2 will bring back the first film's stars (sans Julian McMahon's Dr. Doom), as well as director Tim Story. It slated to open July 4, 2007. |

Rock on. I really am not that interested in whos all in it as far as characters as long as jessica alba is still doing a part. Im happy. 
Also according to IMDB its a 2007 film in pre-prod right now along with sin city 2 So much alba, so little time. |

Agreed, Although I'm not sure I like some of the acting choices for the Humans and I'm worried about so many names attached to human roles. I really hope they don't detract from the Transformers. |

I thought this was about FF2? Werid? Anyways Sliver Surfer should be awesome and it might be a nice way to introduce him and then do his own movie. |

Forgive me for my singular comment on Transformers which debuts against Fantastic Four :p
On Topic:
There was a Silver Surfer movie in works, but the incredibly high special effects costs associated with the film have left it on the backburner. Hopefully if the Surfer makes a good enough impression in FF2, the movie might be reconsidered. |

The herald of the planet-destroying Galactus was born Norrin Radd, a humanoid who made a deal with Galactus in order to spare his home world Zenn-La. Now encased in silver, he travels through the cosmos seeking out planets to satiate the all-powerful Galactus's hunger.
"He is a highly emotional being, trapped inside fluid metal," FF producer Avi Arad tells USA Today, adding that the Surfer "will look somewhere between gun metal and fluid metallics so you can see the body motion, the breathing, the muscle tone, the mood."
Doug Jones (Hellboy, Pan's Labyrinth) will voice the Surfer and also provided Weta Digital, the special effects house behind Gollum in The Lord of the Rings, with the physical performance needed for the CG effects.
The trailer for Fantastic Four: Rise of The Silver Surfer debuts exclusively in theaters this weekend with the release of Fox's Night at the Museum. |

Ooo nice - Weta Digital almost made me forget that Gollum was a CG character at times. Can't wait to see what they do wtih the Surfer. |
