Played the multiplayer part and wasn't impressed--haven't done the story mode as I don't own a 360.

What weren't you impressed with? Lets see, couldn't be the visuals...they are amazing, the control is tight once you really get the hang of it's cover system, the audio is good, the animation is great. I'm just not understanding. Clarification?

I think he was refering more to the multiplayer.

The multiplayer (sans online Co-op) is pretty much just 3 different variations of Deathmatch. I personally love the multiplayer, particularly Execution where you have to execute the other players with a pistol, chainsaw bayonet, or stomp their head into the curb when he gets wounded or he can recover on his own without other players help. But I was always a Deathmatch player myself in UT as well.

I thought the game was incredible. Too short though (all I've played was story mode co-op). It's really easy to get a hang of the cover system. What's your favorite combo of weapons?

I havent played gears extensivly, though so far im unimpressed with the multi player, feels like the same fight over and over again, rush the snipe, get it or get killed, and if you die, your team mates, or you if you didnt rush either get picked off or you flank. The visuals are impresive, but the sound gets annoying, especialy playing the locusts and crouch running. the weps arent very stunning, save the boom shot thing, but even that losses its edge after a few kills, and the chainsaw, but in online play its buggy as hell, and you are better off with the shotgun(and that has the dreaded halo host shotgun effect it seems). the best part of the game is the running around (weird right?) its realy fun to dive behind cover and spray a few rounds to get your opponent to duck, while a teammate charges ahead and you bulldoze him while hes trying to catch his breath. Online play is extreamly wieghted to require good teamwork, and that is a double bladed sword. pick up games are rarely fun, and neighter playing without a mic. But its very satisfying to wipe the oposision with supirior communication and teamwork.

Im not going to give this game a thumbs down, i havent played it enough, but a preaty game without substance is not worth buying.

Picked it up.

Just playing 1 player right now as I don't have Live Gold.

So far, I like it.
I got to the part with the Berserker, there were a bunch of people over and they all really got into it. The game looks amazing, that's a fact, but I see what people mean about how it looks so good. The immediate environment is always pretty small, so they don't have to work very hard to make distance shots look good. There aren't any distance shots. Everything is pretty close quarters.

Either way though, the visuals are amazing. I've seen the frame rate drop a few times, and I've run into some glitchy rooms that I wasn't supposed to be in, but besides that... great game.

I will, however, say that I don't think it should beat Zelda as Game of the Year from ANYONE!

Just my opinion.

Ok, now that i have had ample time to play it, I love the game, it suffers from Halo(1) syndrom, in that it has an inreadible capmain and story, (and the musical score is exccelent in my oppinion), but the multiplayer still seems to lack somthing, assasination just isnt fun to me, and warzone and execution are the same except its harder to kill someone at range with the lancer in execution. The campain is very fun, i have played through it a couple of times, and will probably keep playing it for a while. The corpser fight was realy the only one i didnt like, (Spoiler)
