When the police start questioning you, I wonder how well "but it should have been obvious it was an ad for me!" will work as a defense. Anyone can create an object that uses a well-known character as its packaging in this age of Radio Shack and fast color inkjet printers. This was pure stupidity - unidentified electronic devices scattered around a well-known city, at least one of which was placed in a prime target for terrorism without authorization or advance warning.

In light of attacks on British and Spanish rail, and the fact that New England was the port of entry for many of the 9/11 conspirators, I'm not going to fault Boston one bit.

Although everything you said would probably work in America, there would be mass hysteria, he general public probably wouldnt even notice in the London Underground, theres always unattended baggage and stuff lying around and no one does anything about it, ever.

I'm not saying the UK wont get attacked, it probably will, but as a nation there isn't as much fear as there seems to be in the States, we just get on with everything. No disrespect to the people directly affected by September 11, and the scale of that incident was truly fucking shocking, but within a month of the London Underground attack (and the failed second attempt only 14 days later) EVERYTHING in the UK was completely back to normal, and nothing was mentioned of it other than in the papers about investigations, until its anniversary, and again, aside from the investigation into the failed second attack, the media attention has dissappeared from that particular event.

When there was that scare last year(?) with the explosive chemicals in baggage, it was only a matter of about 6 weeks before you were allowed to take stuff like shaving foam (which during those 6 weeks was banned) onto the aeroplane in your carry on luggage.

I'm not saying the way my country does things is the right way, and I'm not saying we just brush it all under the carpet, we do acknowledge what happened, we do try and take care and report something we're not sure about, but we also don't want any terrorist to believe that it has deeply affected our way of life so much that something as idiotic and immature as a poorly thought out advertising campaign would bring one of our most famous cities to a halt.

At the end of the day, maybe its not obvious to everyone (I certainly wouldnt of recognised it) but I'd of assumed it was some elaborate student prank or something, to close down half a city for something like that is beyond a joke really.

what next "Man drops cigarrette box on airport floor, all planes for the next 24 hours from "blahblah" will be delayed"

As I previously stated, in other countries America is becoming a bit of a laughing stock for being overly dramatic. Sure its not without reason, as I said, 9/11 was absolutely shocking, I saw it all live on BBC news and felt incredibly saddened, but as a country, you're not making the situation you're in any easier by over-acting at the drop of a hat.

I caught this story right off CNN as it was happening at 6:30 this morning. This. Is. Ridiculous. I pretty much throw in my two with everything Ming said. I feel sorry for the two guys that are gonna get hammered with this.

No offense to you Kug, but I think there is a subtle difference between posting up a light bright of Faye in a subway. A character that no more than 500 people on the planet are aware of. if that. And doing the same with the Mooninites, a major character and a popular animated series in which MILLIONS of people watch every night of the week. Yeah if I did it with a sign of Faye I would expect to be thrown in jail, because no one knows who the fuck faye is. And I have a well known saying for anyone on the Boston legal team trying to prosecute this, as well as the dumbasses that shut down have the city for a damn sign. Ignorance is no excuse. You cant tell me that there is not one person in that administration or police force that has never seen an Episode of ATHF or been up late watching TV with their kids and hasnt seen them watching one. Again Ignorance is no excuse.

Yeah this was retarded, if u actually saw the things they put up it was basicly some LED's and a circut board...they were like 1x1 foot and like 1/2 an inch thick...not much of a threat....

Now I don't know if turner broadcast went about getting the proper permits to put them up, if they didn't that is indeed illegal.
But I don't think they are going to be crying about a $500,000 or $1,000,000 fine...seeing as they got like $50,000,000 worth of advertising at least from this

As an insider I agree Wink
Basicly in America the citizens have been spoon feed this notion of invulnerability from The government and media (esentually one in the same Rolling Eyes ) Anyways come 9/11 that notion was thrown out the window. And many people don't know what to do. Especially when our OWN government goes to great lengths to make us feel unsafe, because that is the main way they gained support for the war.
The british, and most of europ are more mature in thies dealings. Allot of it goes down to your history, I mean you guys survived things like the raids on london durring WWII etc. And then just started picking up and putting it back together...pretty bad ass Razz

Americans need to calm down. Yes there are people out to get us, but not everyone and everything is.

I wonder how long it will be before a city gets crippled by anonymous reports of random trash that might be a bomb.

This was a great big sounding of the "wolf" alarm, a bad sign for the city of Boston.
