This is slightly off topic, but...since moving to Florida, I can't describe how amazingly bad the drivers are here...and not just the old ones! This post reminded me of that fact.

Even though I only have limited driving experience in Florida, I know exactly what you mean. And it's not just that they were bad drivers, they were aggressive as hell dangerous drivers. I feared for my life a few times.

Up here in the northeast where I live, we definitely have some bad drivers. Connecticut (where I live) drivers are just stupid and think they own the road. New York and New Jersey drivers...well, I don't think I even need to explain that one, I'm sure you guys already know. Actually, I should amend that. It's not that New York drivers are BAD, per se, it's that they're always in some sort of self-imposed rush, and drive aggressively as a result.

Then we have the occasional "Masshole" driving around (drivers from Massachussetts). They are, by far, the worst drivers in the area. They're dumb, and generally oblivious to what's going on around them, so we generally avoid them at all costs.

I have to take a second to brag on Texas drivers, for the most part a pretty good group. My theory is because our state is so huge we have to drive 2 hours just to get anywhere, so we get a lot of practice. Up here in north Texas though, we have to watch out for Okies. The only metro areas of Oklahome are mid state, so all the...more remote areas of OK tend to breed poor road specemines. >_<

Missouri Drivers are the worst. Two of them at my job even agreed. They'll run over you in a crosswalk if they have the chance, and cut you off like crazy. I just hate 'em.

But yeah I think we should test more often. And I do know that parallel parking hasn't even been on the Illinois test for years. Nobody I've talked to has ever had to parallel park on their test.

Maine drivers aren't that bad until winter comes, and then you have the jerks with the plows on their trucks who don't pay attention to how far over they are into the oncoming lane. In summer we have the old people, but they aren't nearly as bad as the locals. We get New York drivers once ni a while, but around here they drive the slowest.

I need glasses to pass my test for my license. I went in, forgot them, the attendant asked me to come back.

Instead I renewed online and didn't have to take the test...
