Former Guitar Hero studio didn't wait long to move on.

We've known Harmonix has been removed (or removed themselves -- we'll probably never know the whole story) from the Guitar Hero franchise now in the hands of Activision, Neversoft and Red Octane, but they've quickly moved on, as The Mercury News reports from an Electronic Arts event held last night at the Game Developers Conference, where the publisher confirmed they're working with Harmonix.
Harmonix CEO Alex Rigopulos was in attendance at the gathering, but remained quiet on what exactly was in the works. They had previously teased, however, that they're next project "is a bigger and more ambitious endeavor than we felt we could pursue within the bounds of the Guitar Hero franchise." Hmm. |

Well, they technically can't literally publish the next Guitar Hero...but it'd better be something other than Yet Another Rehash Of An Already-Existing Music Game. |

EA will just buy the license to American Idol and produce an endless string of "roster-update" games based on that, while producing commercials that are both blatantly idiotic and possibly indicative of a high degree of socioethnic ignorance on the part of the decision-makers in the company. Oh, and eventually the games will either become so entrenched within certain groups that people will begin to define themselves based on their skills at the game, or they will degenerate into idiotic festivals of "see what our animation teams can do?"
Rest in peace, Harmonix. We hardly knew ye. |

I missed out on the announcment that Activision and Neversoft got their hands on Red Octane and Guitar Hero... does that mean Spider-Man and Tony Hawk will be playable in future games? |

I wish I could find Project 8 for a decent price. I also can't wait for Guitar Hero on 360. |
