I know its already there, but so what? Why couldnt they of done this sooner, saved themselves so much criticsm and whats with jumping on Kotaku's back about it? Rumours spread all the time, and their reacon more or less shouted from the roof tops "yes whats being said is true.

So I can watch my avatar watchig a movie? woooooooooooooow, catch me while I pass out!!! Seriously, thats just a little bit sad, and dnot getme started on the furniture aspect of it, especially if you have to pay for items to go in your apartment with money you've put onto your network account.

You're missing my point. The point was that you can stream stuff off your hard drive into your room. So if you have a video you want someone else to see, you can show them right there. No transfering is necessary.

You can hang photos from your HD on your walls. Stuff like that.

Also, as far as paying for items... keep in mind that you will get items from buying games too. You can get clothing and furniture for home if the developers so choose to put that stuff in the game. And you know they will.

I dunno. If developers on 360 wanted to they could add themes and gamer pics that downloaded or unlocked from games played, and some did it early in the 360's life. However, they saw more profit in selling it seperately and it could possibly happen on PS3 also.

Yes, it's a cool possibility that Sony is adding; but don't get too excited yet as we've yet to see how it will completely pan out.

Really? I wasn't aware of that. The one thing I can see that may be more of incentive to put things like this in there is that they can be linked to "achievements." I guess we will see.

True. I guess the one thing that has me so hyped up about it is the fact that the beta is next month. So everything they showed should already be there. Otherwise they would have thrown in the "coming soon" bs. At least I think they would have.

And they did mention things like pets that were coming soon.

I have some gamer pics on my 360 that were added only because I played things like Amped 3 and maybe a few other launch games. There are some like Gears of War where you can unlock a special gamer pic, but it's something that developers seem to perfer charging for. EA, in general, got abunch of flack for charging money for something that should have come standard in a game... cheats for Tiger Woods.

More info about Home

(Almost) Everything to Know About 'Home'
Sony dishes out the goods in an extensive FAQ.
By Patrick Klepek, 03/12/2007

Sony said much about PlayStation Home at the Game Developers Conference last week, but they didn't answer everything. A little digging around has produced an extensive Sony-created FAQ that answers some important questions: the final version will launch in October, you can have up to 50 friends and the final download will be 500MB.

Some other tasty tidbits:

Q: Will I be able to attend ticketed (paid-for) special events?
Yes, in time Home will play host to many types of event. Bespoke events such as exclusive game previews and developer interviews will be organised by Home and its affiliated content providers. Live events such as sports and concerts may also be broadcast within Home.

Q: Is Home a PS3 specific service? Will users be able to access Home through other devices?
Initially Home will only be accessible via that PLAYSTATION 3, although over time our intention is to enable users to interface certain Home features and services via other networked devices such as PlayStation Portable (PSP) and mobile phones.

Q: Will there be a restriction to the age you'll be able to give your avatar?
Yes. We will not have avatars which resemble children. The avatars are adult in appearance.

There it is again.

This is a part of business.

And in this case... no idea was stolen. Phil did an interview stating that this has been development for 2 years now. Also, do you really think they could have made something this robust in the amount of time between the announcement of Miis and now? Doubtful!

Comparing Home to what Miis are right now is like comparing Miis to Gaia Avatars.
Saying Sony copied Nintendo on this is like saying Nintendo copied Gaia.

If you're going to compare Home to something, it should be Live. Home is like Live, with PSU like features as far as avatars, rooms and lobbies.

Sorry, don't mean to snap, but I'm just SICK of the "Sony copies everything" BS. I heard enough of it with the controller, even though Sony had a patent on this type of mention sensitive control AND there was a controller that used it for the PS1! Everyone does it, and Sony is the only one that seems to get hated on.

Microsoft made a Camera for the 360. OMGZORZ! They copied Sony's Eyetoy!

Nintendo made the DS with a touch screen. Imagine that, a portable system with a touch screen. OMGZORZ! They copied Tiger's Game.com!

I'm not a big fan of the way Sony has done things with the PS3 either... but the copying argument is something that I'm just tired of hearing. Being inspired by others ideas is the way the industry evolves.

And Sony copied SEGA's eyecam or whatever it was going to be called for the Dreamcast, and SEGA copied PC technology Wink

Which if you look around the net, alot of people say frequently Wink

Nintendo also took the analogue stick from old technology, but implemented it better, but SEGA and Sony (I think) released their analogue pads before Nintendo released the N64, but they'd already shown off the pad.

As you said, its business, everyone takes each others ideas and tries to build upon it, how many different companies produce Cola? or how many different companies make a normal, milk chocolate bar with nothing in?

NOTHING is truly revolutionay in the games industry anymore. Not even the Wii's remote which is a blend of the golfing tech that was implemented into a device on PS2, LED technology and a modified laser pointer/tv remote.

All any company can do these days is take an old idea and try to improve upon it.

I think someone said in the 60's that there will be no more brand new inventions, nothing that majorly changes life, only advancement upon already existing inventions.
