What I think he's getting at, Shino, is that you may have a master list of friend codes, and then have to build a game-specific list of friends that you want to play that game with. So if you've got someone who you want to play Smash Bros. Brawl with, but not, say, something like whatever Tetris game will be out for Wii, then you can choose who you want to have available at any given time. It's a lot of repetition, and probably isn't as slick as a unified list, but maybe there are some privacy settings or something that are easier to do with this kind of set-up.
I don't know, I'm just speculating. Salt to taste. |

I understand what you're getting at. But the evidence I'm seeing says it's going to work like the DS online games... Where you have all the different friend codes or usernames or whatever. Seperate ones for each game.
I hope to God I'm wrong. But this is what I see, and it's retarded. |

Um...Im going to be the negitive nancy here and tell ya...Im really not bothered by this. I mean, I like to play online, but if all it means is I have to check PO every week and punch in a few 16 digit numbers of people I wanna play with....its not like its the end of the world.
Would a unified list be simpler and easier, sure? What I have to ask myself is this...
Will this feature make me not want to play great DS/Wii games online with friends?
And when I stack up the pros and cons, the answer is simply no. This, slightly annoying feature, will not make me NOT want to play great DS/Wii games with friends. Because they're great games. *shrugness* |

Agreed.. that it is just an annoyance. But if MS and Sony can do it, why can't Nintendo.
I personally have not played any games online on my DS. |

I played Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin there for a bit online, but it was only a boss rush mode - coulda been so much more. Im planning on buying Mario Kart DS exclusivly to play online. Think about it, being able to play against 7 other real opponents at any time in a kart battle. I kin. |

Well it clearly is an annoyance but not the end of the world. I plan on playing maybe 3-4 games online anyway (pokemon, Yugioh, maybe the next version of Wii Play/Sports/etc) so it's doubtful that it's really gonna effect me much. It will take time to input the numbers at first but it's a one-time hook up like cable. You pay for the installation once and then get the regular fee. I can already tell there's not gonna be a "Meeting room" kind of thing where you can see what your buds are playing and then get that game so meh. You'll already have the game in that you want and go to themenu from there. Yeah, I'd like to have a Wii Live Online too but Nintendo is Nintendo. They will do what they decide is in their best interest. Not to sound mean but that's the way it is. They're not gonna scrap their in-place structure now. The DS usues it and they can't get them on shelves fast enough, the Wii is also not on shelves long enough to even cast a shadow so any kinf od online persona is just going to push it further. Sadly the hardcore (like us) are not the voice of the consumer. Little Bobby's mom is gonna pick up a Wii and take it home to her son. If he has problems/difficulties getting online she's not gonna give a rat's ass. |
