lol, a surprisingly good movie. It was fairly metaphysical... ala the matrix, which is an easy way to make me like it. It's a plot about a scientist who's discovered a way to invade people's dreams, and tries to use it for psychotherapy... of course it falls into the wrong hands and the world nearly ends.

AFI is Family Friendly, yet this movie had some serious sexual overtones and downright full frontal nudity, lol. I guess they didn't care, I sure as hell didn't.

You gotta watch this if you get a chance.

Yeah I've heard about this one. It is from the creator of "Paranoid Agent" so that's a plus.

I think you mean more "Philosophically and Sociologically interesting" than existential. I don't think I'd consider the Matrix a truly existential movie.

As for interest...meh. If it's an anime that involves sexual overtones and nudity, it's probably not for me.

I agree with that assessment...it didn't deal with why we exist or the nature of reality, it dealt with what we knew about existence and how we know it; definitely more along the sociological line than existential.

Not to mention, the Matrix was just a cool sci-fi movie that regurgitated some common philosophical ideas. I don't think it was landmark movie or made any "statements."

I actually said metaphysical, not existential.

Also, what's up with your PO? she is nude, except for her hairband

Razz

Like I said, it qualified as family oriented, so it's not that bad.

You forget that in Japan nudity is slighly less taboo than it is here as far as family situations are concerned.

Oh - and I see that the guy who did Paranoid Agent is the same guy who did Mellenium Actress which I did see. Was Satoshi Kon involved in Perfect Blue in any way - seems to fit his style.
