Two things:
1) my friend loves Trauma Center. He tried to get me to buy it while we were on the phone and I kidded him about getting a commission on it. I haven't even bothered to rent it yet tho. It just doesn't seem like my kind of game.

2) I think if Nin had raised the price $50 then it begins to compete with the low end 360 and it can't do that (as the XB's meat-and-potatoes is it's online strength). Also remember this, Nin makes money off the Wii out the box. They absorb no loss on hardware even packing in Wii Sports so they clearly could have released it at $199 or less. That's just their business model tho. However, knowing this we have to accept that it's not going to be technologically equal across the board. Point guards can't do what Centers can so they have to focus on other skills. The Wii can't compete on a graphical level so Nin went after the elusive "fun factor". No one can adequately value that so it's a safe thing to do. But I will say that I actually have fun playing my Wii.

I think we should keep this factual and not emotional. No one can say you don't like something if you say you do, we can't argue that. But specs, height, weight, color, etc are things that can be plainly laid out.

Also, I'm hoping we're keeping this as a debate and not making it too personal. I don't think any of us personally benefit regardless of who sells what. I know I don't own any Nin, Sony, or M$ stock. Smile

2) Even if it was at the level of the 360, they still could have done it and it would have sold. They had options too. They could have taken Wii Sports out of it and cut the price. And even with my example they would have still been making money. My example added $40 to the cost and $50 to the price. I think that's fair.

Even with the $40 added, they wouldn't have competed with the 360 and the PS3. The point was that they wouldn't have to compete with the PS2 in the graphics front, and they wouldn't be compared to the GC. The Wii would have been in a class of it's own. Not as good as the PS3 or 360 on the graphics front, but at least it's a lot better than last gen.

To use your example... yeah, a Center doesn't do what a PG does. But a rookie Pro Center, where he may not be able to do what a rookie Pro PG does, should be well beyond "on par" with a first year college PG.

No, I don't think they should have cut out Wii Sports, it was a really big selling factor for the system when I was working at EB. As soon as we mentioned "Free game" everyone was all over it. Especially talking to parents and explaining what said free game entailed, they were really hyped about it too. To us hardcore gamers it seems logical but you have to think about how they were trying to use it to infiltrate homes and get mom and dad to start playing.
