OMG *squeels like a little girl*
My favorite part of the PotC:3 movie was Golden Compass trailer! This is seriously my favorite book of all time, and I wet my self when I relised what it was.
Daniel Creig will play Lord Asriel, Dakota Blue Ritchards will play lyra, Adam Godley will voice Pan, and Nonso Anozie will voice Iorek, and Sam Elliot will play Scorsby
If you have never read the His Dark Materials trilogy, you must, I seriously belive Pilip Pullman has bested Tolkien for best fantasy Trilogy EVER.
This is the most anticipated movie of my life.
Edit: This is a link to the trailer |

Wow...
I read the books in middle school so I really need to reread them before I see that movie. It looks good. I remember a friend being concerned about them dumbing it down and taking away from some of the religous stuff (which was rather important to the books, I think)...still, I'd see it in a heartbeat! |

Well, aperently the person who wrote the screenplay (Chris Weitz) loves the movie loves the trilogy.
Chris Weitz wrote: |
"To me, it was and is one of the great works of imagination of the twentieth century. I had grown up on Tolkien but this, to be honest, left him in the dust as far as ambition and philosophical depth. At least, that is how I feel, and that is how anyone attempting the books as films should feel – utter commitment."
"It offers everything a filmmaker would want, a compelling story, fascinating characters, psychological and philosophical depth, wonder. Although the heroin is a child there is nothing childish or silly about His Dark Materials. It is dark, even somber though like all great novels it ranges to the ecstatic, the humorus and the political as well."
"You have to give all of your time and attention to it, and I knew that I would happily do that for HDM."
|
I seems he realy respects it, enjoyed it, and noticed the undertones of the book. I am thinking he didnt mess it up to bad |

Wonderful, wonderful.
I've been looking forward to this for over a year already. Those were and are some of my favorite books. Don't be offset by the young adult rating of the books, they're a wonderful story! |

ZOMG I just saw a trailer about this and had to rush here to see if it had a topic already D I am so excited about this film. I can't wait. O____O It looks awesome.
I don't like that they name-dropped Lord of the Rings in the trailer, though >> bad idea, that. |

Great books, I'd agree. I still remember reading The Golden Compass and The Subtle Knife and then it was like: "Where's the Third Book?"
THREE YEARS LATER it came out. Longest wait of my life.
I'd have to disagree about them being better than Lord of the Rings. It's like apples to oranges, first off, and second off, I felt like the third book didn't fulfill the promise of the first two. Too much time had passed, it had detached somewhat.
Still love those books, though. I hope the movie's good.

word.
D:
I don't like the way they did Lyra's universe, it's too ... crazy-epic-artifact-awesome, not enough ... not as similar to ours as described in the book, I expected something more like ... ya know, that <.< (minus the modern looking people in the pic XD)
/rant
*goes back into the book*
Still! I'm looking forward to the Subtle Knife and the Amber Spyglass. :O |

Oh Goodness. I have been waiting and waiting, and I got really pumped when they announced it originally for November of 2007... back like, last summer. haha
So it's okay that we have to wait just one extra month.. :p I think the trailer looked pretty awesome, and I think that even though maybe everything *coughthecitycough* doesn't look -exactly- as described (or as I pictured) it will still turn out to be a good movie.
I am so glad they did not get some mainstream child star to play Lyra, though. When I saw the name "Dakota" on the list of actors and actresses on the IMBD before they had any pictures, I freaked out thinking it was going to be Dakota Fanning. (she's okay, but she would've been -terrible- for this part.)
OH! and Did any of you take the Daemon quiz? ? haha it's a cute little quiz for the movie site... oh I'll go make a quiz in the quiz section ! |
