By removing yourself permanently you will no longer get any credit card ads in the mail. This means if someone steals your mail they won't be able to fill out apps in your name and then open a bunch of credit accounts.
Basically this is the same thing as the anti-telemarketer deal only this one is for your mailbox. |

Yeah, but you have to provide them with your social security number. I'd rather receive those pesky letters than give someone my ss#. You have to be out of your mind! I don't care how "secure" that site is!!!

It's a government organization setup for the express purpose.
Also your SS# means nothing anymore. You give it to get a library card, start a bank account, get car insurance, buy a latte, get a mail/PO box, whatever.
If you're concerned that giving your social security number out is gonna hurt you then yer really scared of the wrong thing. |
