MWAHAHAHAHAHA!
Anyway, back to the topic.
I really think this Waggle wand thing is just a rumor and won't actually happen, but if it does, I really can't blame Sony. I think it's a good idea and still think it would be just a way for them to get more 3rd party software (and maybe some more 1st party) on the box before it goes away around 2010.
Also, for those interested, apparently Gamestop put up a page sometime yesterday that had a "coming soon" on a PS3 for $400, then immediately took it down. I didn't see it so I don't know how valid it is.
And honestly, I DOUBT the price drop would be THAT steep. But it does kinda make me feel like there is a price drop coming. Possibly with an announcement next week.
Not to mention the deal that they are running right now with a coupon out of EGM. Buy a PS3 and get 5 Blu-Ray Movies free! That screams price drop to me too.
I guess we'll see, but I could definitely see them droping the price of the PS3 to match the price of the 360 elite ($480). That would be a kick in the ass to MS. "And with our price you get Blu-ray movie capability and built in wireless."
And it would be just in time for the game flood that is September. |

And I never even noticed that link. Wow.

That screams "Blu-Rays are the Betamax of 2007" to me.
Dropping the price to $400 would be cool but could Sony do that realistically? I could see adding in stuff first since that is way more cost effective and you control that easily. Losing even more money (that would be about half, right?) doesn't seem feasible and would have stockholders clamoring for blood. I could see $550 with another controller and a "party game" (Calling All Cars?). Remember, half the country is still NOT connected to broadband so that's really not a sellable feature in home consoles despite what the hype may have you believe. Packing in 1 or 2 downloadable 1st party games offsets the cost as you can "value" them around $15, if you want to. |

Not at all. Blu-Ray is currently kicking HD-DVD's ass. Actually... HD-DVD has been doing this since the PS3 came out... giving movies with players.

I do think $400 is out of the question. But $480 I think is very possible. I don't think they would do anything in the $500s b/c it still has that big 5 in the front, and I think that's a problem.
I guess we'll see. I really REALLY hope they announce this next week at E3! |
