Some are bloody good, theres a Jessica Alba one using the PR shot that they used for Sin City, you can tell its in no way fake as her nose isn't quite how it should be, but the level of detail on the hair is fantastic! |

Just a heads up guys...
I'm not sure how much credit could be given to a claim like this...
I linked one of the stories they referred to. If you have time to read it, it's a good read. Scary a little bit.
I just hope that if my 360 is going to red ring it does it before November.

Small number of users reportedly being affected.
By Philip Kollar, 07/03/2007
Since we ran our Tale of 11 Broken 360s a week ago, there have been a few new developments. This weekend, posts appeared alleging someone at Microsoft was deleting threads on the official Forza 2 forums. The offending thread was reportedly full of gamers claiming Forza Motorsport 2 was causing major problems with Xbox 360s. Forza 2 Community Manager Che Chou responded to the accusations in his Weekly Pitpass Report:
"We've gone and tested Forza 2 extensively against the hardware and have confirmed that the game itself does not brick Xbox 360 consoles. Although it might seem like the number of instances is high, especially if you go by forum reactions, it's actually a very small percentage that it's happening to and we acknowledge that it's very frustrating. In other words, there isn't really a software solution here.
...As for the recent controversy over a 'deleted' forum thread discussing Forza 2 and hardware freezing, the truth is that I moved it to a moderator's section for preservation and investigation. It has not been deleted (and I can easily prove it). The thread no longer served a real productive purpose other than as an excuse for folks to violate FM.net's terms of service with ad hominem attacks. However, thanks to the thread, we are acutely aware that it is a very real issue with a small percentage of our community but a problem nonetheless."
More telling was further information on console repair and replacement provided by Chou, though nothing as specific as "there's a new heatsink" was detailed:
"From what I understand, the Microsoft hardware team will ensure that newer units -- or at least the ones they return to you -- will have the red rings of death issue resolved. Those with Xbox 360 hardware issues should contact 1-800-4MY-XBOX."
Previous inquiries to Microsoft on whether they are adding new heat sinks to consoles sent in for repair have been studiously non-answered by representatives:
"...regularly updating console components is commonplace within the industry and is a standard aspect of the business for a variety of reasons including cost reduction, improved manufacturability and improved performance. We do not provide details on these updates."
We'll continue to cover this one as it unfolds. |

Its simple, people are playing the game for too long a period, the 360's getting overhot and bricking as its prone to doing. I've heard these reports numerous times and they all come from people playing for far too long or what have you. I also know a couple of people who've had to replace copies of Forza 2 after the the Samsung drive as absolutely knackered their disc. |

I have heard of things like this happening in the past. Including the broken disks. Gekko is on his 3rd Gears disk I think.
It's just scary to me how badly this issue is and how MS is not doing anything about it. |

Alot of the disc issues are from the Samsung drives I believe, the other day I was in GAME (when I got Sylpheed and The Darkness) and a guy brought a copy of Need For Speed Most Wanted in to try and get a refund, the 360 had completely melted the outside of the disc (both sides, so label and data), the manager told him it wasn't stores policy to replace it as it wasn't faulty when he bought it.
Problems then arose when the guy changed his story suddenly to try and claim it was like that when he bought it lol.
There is a jpeg somewhere that shows the different drives, and how to tell which you have, I have a Samsung one so I try not to play on it for too long, if I feel I've spent too long on a game I'll take the disc out, check it for scratches, give it a clean, let it cool off and either go and do something else or play a XBLA game.
You're right though, it shouldn't be doing these things. |

Yeah this definitely isn't good for MS. I haven't heard about Wii's return percentage, but I recently read a report that says that PS3's return rate is below 1%.
Hear that MS... BELOW 1%!
FIX IT! |
