The price of the DLC is under review apparently.

The also closed the petition to new signatures. It stopped at over 9500 names.

One Guitar Hero Per Year, XBL Prices Under Review
Next wave of content might not be priced the same.
By Patrick Klepek, 04/17/2007
Right now, Guitar Hero is a winning formula, a template. Neversoft, RedOctane and Activision will surely introduce new elements to this formula, but, at the end of the day, it's really about introducing new music for players to rock to. It worked for Karaoke Revolution and Dance Dance Revolution -- why not here?

Using formulaic gameplay and removal of the need to completely reinvent how everything plays from game-to-game, it's easier to produce a sequel per year. Speaking to Eurogamer, RedOctane President Kai Huang said this is precisely the plan. "I think that fans can definitely expect that we're going to have one major release a year, and then what we're doing beyond that major release is to release update packs and content packs so there's more songs," he said.

He makes sure to note, however, that fans should expect other Guitar Hero-related releases per year, as well. Guitar Hero: 80s Edition sounds like it'd be a nice place to start, though the company has yet to confirm that one's even coming.

Speaking in the present, Huang's aware of the criticism aimed at the downloadable content released for Guitar Hero 2. While it's obviously early for them to commit to a different pricing scheme for the next wave of music, he doesn't shut out the idea. "We think that they're priced competitively, but certainly we listen to the fans and we take that feedback, and if that's something we'll need to evaluate we'll do that," he said.

We'll have to wait a few weeks to see if RedOctane decides it's worth changing.

Looks like all the complaints about the price made no difference.

They are still raping users for downloadable songs.

New Guitar Hero 2 DLC on Xbox Live
Still priced at 500 Microsoft Points, though.
By Dan Dormer, 07/12/2007
When downloadable tracks for Guitar Hero II were first announced, gamers wondered if Activision would engage in the highway robbery previously seen on Xbox Live or release the tracks at a more consumer-friendly price. Eventually released at 500 Microsoft Points ($6.25), it was definitely the former. While Activision said the price point was under review back in April, it seems the three months between then and now have changed nothing. The fourth pack is on Xbox Live Marketplace now, sporting a price tag of 500 Microsoft Points.

Track Pack 4 includes The Ramones "I Wanna Be Sedated," Deep Purple's "Smoke On The Water," and Judas Priest's "You've Got Another Thing Coming." However, is that worth 500 Points to you with Guitar Hero III and Rock Band only a few months away?

Activision isn't budging on these prices.

Well... looks like they lost a customer.

Rock Band for the win!

Activision Not Changing Price of Guitar Hero DLC
More than 300,000 downloads means they're pretty happy.
By Patrick Klepek, 07/13/2007
Despite complaints that Activision and Red Octane had overcharged for downloadable Guitar Hero 2 content on Xbox Live, the companies revealed to Reuters they have no plans to mess with the pricing. Why? More than 300,000 people downloaded it.

Sorry, kids. "We do actively look at and monitor the message boards. We do listen, and for us, it's about offering even better music at current price points to get consumers excited about," said said Dusty Welch, head of publishing at Red Octane.
