I'm probably going the DLP route.
Plasma has burn in at the beginning
LCD has color loss over time.
DLP is cheaper, has a high quality picture and is great for gaming.
See cnet's top rated HDTV?
I'm looking at that in the 57" version (WD-57831). You can find them for under $2000. Mitsubishi also has a WD-57734 series which are brand new. I'm going to see what the differences are. From the spec sheet on their site... there's actually new tech in it that gets better color.
Both can be found for around $1800. A friend is buying my TV for around $750. So there you go. I also have a Mitsu electronics card that gets me 12 months same as cash on any TV. Got it when I got my current TV.
We'll see, I'll keep you guys updated. |

I hate to be the voice of dissent, but I wasn't very impressed.
Maybe I need to replay the demo a few times but it just doesn't seem as fluid(?) as (and I hate to do the whole comparing games thing) God of War. Something about the way Nariko moves just seems 'off' to me.
I really like the stance mechanics but they also just seem slightly off to me. I'm not really sure what it is, I think it's the animation in general that's just irking me. (Animation, meaning the way the character moves).
I may also be a victim of the overhype engine. After hearing how amazing this game was going to be, I thought playing the demo would muster more than a feeling of "Oh, was that all?". |

It's probably more of the fact that they just throw you into it without actually telling you some of the different things you can do... and the demo was really short.
I've played through it like 6 times. I've just about mastered counters now, which are a whole lot of fun.
Also, if you want to face a stronger enemy... don't hit the [] button at the end of the Hero sequence at the beginning of the demo. |

I got to agree with RivaOni on this one. I tried the Heavenly Sword demo, but it didn't really wow me like the Bioshock demo did. Granted that they are two very different games, but still.
Then again, to be fair, I have been following Bioshock when I first heard of it...that first trailer at E3 2006 blew me away. |

And I usually don't like FPS games... so there you go.
The Bioshock demo... from what I've played of it... was pretty good.
But it doesn't compare to the fun I had with Heavenly Sword.
Of course.. I'm not the typical "I love shooters" American Gamer.
I'm much more into the action games like that than the FPS games. |

I was not impressed with Bioshock at all. I didn't play it, but then, I'm with Shino-sama in the "I don't do FPS" boat. I did watch it, and even that I didn't get much enjoyment out of. It's pretty, but I don't like creepy games really.
Heavenly Sword, however, is right up my alley if I can get used to the mechanics of it. |

I've heard this "Its an FPS" thing soooooo many times, the gameplay, like Metroid Prime, has nothing to do with the actual game really. I'm not a huge fan of FPS, I only really play Rainbow Six because friends of mine play it online, same goes for Chixie, yet we're both incredibly impressed with Bioshock, its not so much about the gameplay mechanics as it is the environment around you, spotting all the little hints to what exactly went wrong in Rapture, among other things.
That being said, I've not played Heavenly Sword, don't know anyone with a PS3, nor have I played God of War, but everything I've seen of the pair of them reminds me of Ninja Gaiden and Devil May Cry, neither of which I'm a fan of to be honest with you. |

Oh, I'm impressed by the visual detail of the game, I'm just not an FPS guy. This is a different type of FPS though so I may play it. I haven't gotten through the entire demo yet so I need to get back into it.
And no... it is nothing like metroid prime. Metroid Prime is a Action Platformer turned 3D. It just happens to be in the first person perspective.
If it was like Metroid, there would be a lock on feature and you would be able to jump whenever you felt like it.
I'm impressed by the game, it's just not as fun to me as HS. That's all I'm saying. |
