Help

You and Andrew might just drive me crazy with this whole ASS thing. Mainly because you guys enjoy calling the rest of us who love "those little slices of death" as HIBERNATING. I just hope once we all move in with each other you guys don't keep me up. You know better then almost anyone what i'm like when i don't have enough sleep. I wish you guys luck even though i'm typing while i'm talking to you guys on the phone. Oh well i love you both very much and even though you have lease then 20 mins. until your next sleep cycle, I'm tired now, so.... Good Night or Good Cycle. Which ever way you wanna look at it.

Wink

Well nightmare you know that we wont keep you up on purpose.

as for the update its 3:06 now and other than me over sleeping this morning from the 4am cycle dtraight through to the 8am cycle. to try to get back onto track andrew and I have decided to skip our noon sleep phase so our next nap will be at 4pm. Even with the over sleeping I am still pretty tired though I was worse last night.
as for the psycological side of this it is taking a lot of mental adjusting to get used to this. it feels as though you never sleep yet you always have a nap coming up around the corner. It is also getting harder to keep track of what day it is.

ok sorry for the delay in the update, but I have been keeping myself has active as I can be. I think that I have nearly fully adjusted the the system now. and its feels great. I am having a little trouble staying awake during my 4-8am cycle but not nearly as much as I used to. also I am starting to feel slightly tired within about twenty minutes of when I need to take my next nap.

My question (if not to be too nosy) is what do you do for work? Extra hours in the day sounds great - just my work wouldn't condone the napping.

I enjoy my 7-9 hours of sleep at night. Then again I treasure my slack time...

Exatly what I was thinking - or school for that matter. Although the naps are only 20min each so I could see slipping them in during lunches or smoke breaks?

I'm a little curious too, just how bad the effects are if you miss a nap...

20 min of sleep every 4 hours seems about equivalent to running one's car on a nearly empty gas tank all the time because it costs less per refill. Once you're without a station, you're screwed.

OK sorry about the delay again it seems that the internet doesn't like me, it hasn't let me post here for the past few days.

Well so far so good according to everything that i have read on polyphasic sleep I am fully adjusted.

Now Q-A time

Doot: As of right now I am currently unempolyed, BUT my friend andrew whom I have been adjuting to this system with and who got me into the system in the first place, works a 9-5 job and has a 1 1/2 one way commute. Andrew drives to work a little earlier than he needs to for his job and takes his 8am nap in his car before grabbing a bite to eat before work. Then he takes his noon nap in his car during part of his lunch break. and because after adjusting to the system you can postpone a nap up to just over an hour, he takes his 4pm nap just after five and then heads home.
Also I have been job hunting for about nine hours a day, although because I am resigned to use the bus a quarter of that is used up in transit.

Daijaga: working naps into you schedule is easier than you might think. when you choose to adjust to this system be mindful of your time needs and plan your 4hr intervals accordingly.

feign: From what I have read missing a nap is harsh on the system but as long as you aren't skipping naps regularly a skipped nap can be off set in two steps. 1) caffine drinks should be used but not within an hour of the next scheduled nap. 2) you should do your best to make up the missed nap by adding in back into your schedule between regular naps. EG: if I miss say my noon nap. I would grab a cup of coffee or the like. and also add a nap at either 6pm between my 4pm and 8pm normal naps for that day or at 10pm between my 8pm and midnight naps.
And as for running on empty all the time analogy, you take the station with you all you have to do is find 20-30 min to nap. and in my opinion if your living your life so full that you cant find 1/2hr sleep is the least of your worries.

Not really saying that you'll have days when there isn't a half hour to nap, just that some things take longer than 3 hrs, 40 mins to do.

Of course it dawns on me that running a car on only a gallon of gas per fillup would marginally increase its effeciency, due to noth having the added weight of the extra gallons of gas...

Personally, the way I tend to lose track of time, I'd be drinking a LOT of coffee on this schedule. That's just me though.

I know that there are a great many things that take longer the 3-4 hours. but after fully adjusting to the system its easily possible to to go upto 5hrs between naps.
