As we eagerly anticipate the bare-knuckle battle between Harmonix and Activision this holiday season, details are still coming out about both music projects. Rumors were circulating last week that Rock Band bundles would come with wired guitars on the Xbox 360 iteration, and this weekend Harmonix CEO Alex Rigopulos confirmed it on the OXM Podcast (via Joystiq).
Though it was made clear that wireless guitars would be made available, the wired bundles on 360 stand in stark contrast to the PlayStation 3 bundles, which include wireless guitars. Rigopulos cited a higher cost for Microsoft's proprietary wireless technology as the reason for the difference between the two versions, which may make an impact on sales when they're are released this November. |

Ah ffs, does it really matter if its wireless or not? I really dont care to be honest.
I suppose if you can afford to have the choice between the 360 and PS3 version, then fair enough, but most dont, and its not really all that great a thing, wireless that is, anyhow. I still sit as close to my TV as I did when I had a wired pad. |

Playing Guitar Hero II on my 360, they way my set up is... it's just down right annoying to have to be wired in.
My couch is like 15 feet from TV, and my 360 is on the top level of a 6 foot entertainment tower. So yeah... it is a big deal. I have to be right next to the damn TV to play it. I have to buy USB extension cords.
Point is... MS is a bunch of greedy fucks and is charging out the ass to use their wireless technology.
PS3 and Wii... bluetooth!

On the one hand I agree it's ridiculous that it's not wireless, for the reasons that Shino posted. I played Guitar Hero at a friend's over the summer and his 360 was on top of his TV so the wire got in the way of the screen, it was kind of annoying. Plus I'm really heavy on the idea that you should be able to rock out from across the room, what if you get hungry and you need a snack but you're in the middle of freebird? Or if you have to pee? (kidding)
No but seriously, it's a convenience thing and for some people wired isnt really big of a deal but imagine using a wired remote for your television. Not so awesome. I love being able to pickup my 360 remote or PS3 remote from across the room and turning it on. Lazy, maybe, but convenient.
That all said, I'm probably still gonna pickup the 360 version because I already have a 360 guitar. |

In theory the wires make sense because with My guitar I can only be 5 feet from my Amp anyway. 
I chose the less geeky way to rock out and the way that lets you play any song ever made. |
