Well, I did it.

The added the feature I've wanted for so long (TV out) so I got it.

It's REALLY nice.

The pack that's out right now is the Daxter pack that comes with the Silver unit, Daxter, a Family Guy UMD, and a 1G memory stick. Two words... GREAT DEAL!

Daxter is still one of the best games out. I'm glad I didn't have it yet b/c now I do. Having Family Guy in there is a nice touch too. I ended up getting this pack mainly b/c I bought a camera at the same time. It was a Sony camera since I have the intention to use up all of my Sony points. So... it requires a Memory Stick Pro Duo. Well, this pack comes with a 1G stick. Works for me.

The silver is pretty sexy and, probably one of my favorite parts, it doesn't show finger prints all over it.

The system is SIGNIFICANTLY lighter and fits quite a bit better in my hands.
The d-pad is A TON better and the shoulder buttons feel better for some reason. Face buttons feel the same.

I DO NOT like the new disc tray. I would much rather have the mechanism from the old one.

The wan switch is in a different spot which is really neither here nor there. And they changed the door for the memory stick. It looked odd to me at first, but after seeing how it worked, I like it a little bit better... mainly b/c it looks nicer on this sexy little machine.

The screen seems pretty much the same. I have not noticed any dead pixels so far. On my old one, I had 1 dead pixel that was not even dead unless it was displaying black. It showed up about a week after I bought it, so I'm going to keep an eye out.

The speakers have moved and they sound louder... even though they really aren't. My hands aren't in the way of the speakers anymore, so the sound is much more crisp and clean.

I have not tried the video out yet b/c I haven't seen the cables yet. But I will be trying to get those this week and I will update this topic with the info.

Over all. Very much worth it. If you don't have a PSP already, GET THIS PACK. It's a great deal. If you have one. Well, you probably don't need to buy this version unless you, like me, really like the idea of Video out.

It's funny because I've heard mixed views, those that didn't like the PSP are highly impressed with it so far, while those that did like the original design feel theres not much weight difference, very little difference in size, or loading times.

I still think its a con they didn't chuck the TV Out cable in, just a basic AV cable or whatever would of done the job on most peoples TV's, especially as its the updates main selling point over the original design.

I personally wouldn't bother anyway to be perfectly honest, I have the old white PSP and I use that or the DS when I just fancy lolling in my chair/on the sofa and don't want to play anything on a normal TV or when chixie is watching something and wants to hear it (most times shes happy for me to use a 14 inch portable to game on and have the sound just audible while she reads the subtitles)

Well in my hands, there was quite a bit of weight difference, and Therin thought so too when he picked them both up. As did Doot.
The size... not so much difference, but you can feel the difference when you hold it b/c those bubbles in the back (mainly from the battery size) are gone now. Loading times... I haven't really noticed them yet. But I've only played 1 or 2 games on it so far.

I agree with you on the cables. They should have included some. But even without them, it's still a great deal. You're getting a $20 game, a $10 video and a $25 or so Memory stick for $30. And I can KINDA see the point. What about the people that don't have a PSP that are like you and don't want the cables. Well now you have an accessory that you paid for that you will never use. The fact that they have been making the cables so cheap ($20 for component cables for both PSP and PS3 cables) kinda makes up for it.

And based on what you said... I would say not to buy it to you. If you have one and the Video out isn't something you think you would use... don't bother.

I wasn't gonna bother Wink

I think, once again the UK got ripped off though, yeah we got it a tiny bit earlier than everywhere else for a change, but we only had the choice of the black base pack, the black base pack or the black base pack and anything extra was done via in store deals nothing else...

Fuck Phil Harrison and his "Europe are the most important market" speech, yeah thats why you're still raping us.

Well I got a set of the component cables and they are pretty nice.

I haven't tried a movie or anything, but I did try the game.
Looks good, but obviously, not as good as it would on the PSP screen itself. If you look hard enough you can see the scan lines. But, that's to be expected really.

By the way... For anyone getting the new PSP for this reason.

ONLY COMPONENT CABLES WILL OUTPUT GAMES TO THE TV.
Composite cables will not. Progressive scan is REQUIRED!

I didn't know that until yesterday after I bought the cables. The first EB I went to didn't have the component cables so I almost broke down and bought the composite ones. Glad I didn't. Went to another EB and they had them.
