This is a big thing in the UK obviously, although we're not doing anything for it tonight, might watch all the other firework displays that are going off locally from the warmth of our front room though. |

My mom always told me about how they would make Guy Fawkes dolls and burn them in a fire when she was little. We did it for a few years, but the neighbors never liked it so much and couldn't understand why we had fireworks in November.  |

Funny I figure you to be the sort of guy who would enjoy lighting huge bonfires and shooting fireworks. Back when Guy Fawkes day first came about, they actually burnt the Pope in effigy in the bonfire. |

You might not believe it, but its not an actual "holiday" in this country we dont seem to follow the whole thing of celebrating something each day (moaning about something yeah, that we do! usually the weather, its too hot/cold/wet/dry/windy/not windy enough delete where applicable).
Bonfire Night is just an excuse for everyone to gather at someones house with a big bonfire, get drunk, and light some fireworks, scaring all the toddlers and animals while at it.
Meanwhile all the teenagers put each other in hospital by throwing them at each other! |
