I noticed a lot of ppl from the "What are you eating/Drinking" thread are consuming items from Trader Joe's.
Soooo, I thought we could all benefit from a thread so we can share the good, the great, and and the awesome of what everybody has tried from Trader Joe's.
And also not to forget the good, the bad and they call this edible side as well.
Hopefully this thread will do its job and help everyone branch out and dicover some new stuff from Trader Joe's. I'm a fan of the place but could certainly use some suggestions.
And for those not familiar with Trader Joe's, it is a small natural foods grocery store chain. http://www.traderjoes.com/ But they're not just a regular natural foods sort of place, they have all sorts of exotic dishes and foods and focus a lot on making very good meals quickly and easily. |

The closest one to where I live is up on 21st or 23rd, so I usually don't make it up there. But I love it.
There's a local grocer here, though, called "Food Fight!" And they sell natural foods (and both of the owners are vegan, so they only carry vegan items). We end up shopping there a lot. They have a vegan nacho cheese pump O____O |

Let's see...what have i tried...
*Mandarin Chicken---it was really good, and tasted authentic.
*The BBQ in a bag was surprisingly good
*Mini tacos work pretty well
*The chicken enchiladas are good but its best to just give up on getting them out of the package...they can also burn really easily---ask Dloe
* They sell these tiny little grapes that were fun
*Has anyone else gotten the bags of their random remnants that come from all the trimmings of their fruit leather? Those were a good buy for all you get.
* Their Cheddar Cheese curds are awesome, they work great with those microwave egg poachers.
And of course, they're $2.50 wine. I am a definite fan...just not sure which I like the best.
Has anyone tried one of those 4-pack cans of Chocolate Stout?
*I'm not a big fan of the Shredded Beef Burrito
*Their Clam Chowder tastes good but is weird to eat being that its a funky chicken broth base rather than milk.
*The No Pudge Brownie mix had some serious cookijg issues and was more like gooey fudge since it never really turned into brownies...I may try that one again... |

If you're vegan you don't get to eat cheese! There, I said it!
Random outbursts aside...I think pretty much anything that comes out of Trader Joe's is good stuff. I've had a lot of food from them, so I can't really report on anything in particular, but I pretty much recommend them for anything. Actually, I do remember the canned tuna being particularly good, and much better than any of the large national brands. For example, it didn't taste like the inside of the can.
Around these parts, it's also not very much more expensive to shop there as opposed to other larger chains in the area, so we hit them up whenever possible. They're also in high concentration up here, with most towns having their own TJ's. |

I shop there a lot for meats mostly, but they also have very good brown and wild rice.
I love the chocolate covered dried fruit pieces out of all the snacks, but I have to becareful since I will eat the whole bin and not know it =D.
Also as strange as it sounds... they have the best eggs I've ever had. The yolks are actually orange and they have a lot more flavor to em (even if I have to deal with the odd blood egg).
Yeah I have one about 3 miles from where I live, and I may start trying their frozen foods since I have less and less time for cooking. I know my Director and Manager eat the frozen and freeze dried food there quite a bit. |

I adore Trader Joe's. There's plenty around here and I love getting my snacks and more complicated foodstuffs there (I normally go to larger grocery stores for produce and basic grains and things).
Soo...dark chocolate covered edamame. Fabulous. Also, they have this Indian Fare stuff, and I'm addicted to Indian food. What else, what else...the Spanish White Beans and the Spanish Lentils are yummyful. As are their Samosas. I love their friendly staff, reusable grocery bags (that I sometimes use as a purse ), and atmosphere. I'm starting to try out their body care things, and I'll see how that goes. |
