We got a new place earlier this year, technically its a mongolian grill but they have an all you can eat chinese buffet too, its pretty cool you go in and they give you a bowl and you go down the line and put all the meats and veggies you want in the bowl and give it to the chef and he grills it all up for you, and while you wait for that you get to eat all you can eat from the chinese buffet, my friend took me there for my birthday, it was really good

also that place is a huge chain in china, and the one that opened up in our podunk lil town is the first one to open in america... why they chose this town i will never know lol, guess they figured if they could make it here they could make it anywhere

I'm thinking that your < should actually be > to make your statement make sense. Otherwise you're saying, essentially, that Chilis or TGIF is actually a better steakhouse than Ruth's Chris. While I haven't had the pleasure of dining at Ruth's Chris yet, I'm pretty sure that it's better than the aforementioned two...being pretty expensive and all.

I think I'm biased about the whole "best Chinese food" thing because I think that Asian food in general is highly overrated and only as popular as it is because it's trendy to eat it right now...not because (the majority) of people actually like it. I remember this one time UP and I were in Manhattan looking for a nice restaraunt to have dinner at...and I got frustrated because nearly every restaraunt we came upon was Asian. ::snore::

I don't see why people like anything else in the US. :'D And I've been to some nice non-Asian restaurants in Manhattan, so there has to be some. ^^ But I will agree there is a disproportionate number of them in Manhattan.

I say I got my love of Asian food from, you know, loving it. Not only is it healthier, but they have rounder, more flavorful entrees that are often vegetarian friendly! And I love rice. Bowl of steamed rice and some chopsticks, and I'm set. I had lots of Asian (mostly Korean) friends in Atlanta, and whenever I'd come over they'd want to give me something American, but I told them to pass the Kimchi Very Happy

The first 3 are steakhouses and the other 3 were generic american restaurants. It was not meant to be a convoluted discrete math statement. =D Although 5 seasons does have some kick arse steak (There is a Kobe Steak house next door that is owned by the same guy).

Personally, my favorite type of food is Continental and Middle Eastern, but I will eat just about anything... even shellfish reluctantly. I just mentioned Tasty China and started the thread off it, was because the food was exceptionally good and it surprised me greatly. That and the owner is a consumate wiseass, and drips so much sarcasm that it is a health hazard =D.

Aren't you Spanish? Which COULD explain love of rice? For example, I'm a big fan of the stuff...but I'm Cuban so that's my explanation.

I love rice too. I also love Chinese food. I am very particular, and when I get back to Virginia, I WILL stop at Panda Garden again. I LOVED that place.

Rice also works really well as a repellent for someone I greatly dislike Devil

I just hope my throat feels better before next Wednesday. I want Chinese food, dangit!

I will agree with the assessment that Asian foods (Indian/Vietnamese/etc) are generally very vegetarian friendly. (And I loves it XD)

And here's a fun fact. Did you know that the entire country of Japan was vegan in the 7th century, under the reign of Emperor Tenmu? He did it in the name of Buddhism. I think the reason why there are so many vegetarian/vegan friendly dishes in the east is due to the strong influence of Buddhism. (That would be my guess. :B)
