Candian Bacon = IMPOSTER!
Seriously, on the Bacon Hierarchy, Canadian bacon is WAAAY on the bottom because it's those crafty Canadians trying to market ham as a far more delicious meat. But I'm on to them! |

Here Here!! I like ham.. but c'mon bacon is deliciously crispy and.. bacon-y! How could you prefer a meat that has to use bacon's name to become successful in America?

err actually bacon is a term used for salt & smoke cured meat off the brisket cut of an animal. =D
So technically Canadian bacon is indeed real bacon as is from the belly of the animal and salt cured. Just like you can have beef bacon which I actually use at home for breakfast, and is popular in Europe (looks alot thicker and resembles a steak almost).
There is also bacon that is made to keep unrefrigarated that you can pickup for backpacking trips (just be aware that it is *very* salty and fatty) that is lighter than canned food for long trips. |
