I'm with you on that man. I thought about getting one when Sam's had them for like $75.

That's 3 more blu-rays for my collection.
XD

You know, when i heard blu-ray was going with Disney, i thought blu-ray was going to turn belly-up.

Why? Becuase of the same reason why Betamax went up in the 80s: THe porn industry.

I thought HD would have gotten backing from the Pornography industry, and led to a land-slide victory for no apparent reason other than embracing the age-old profession of filming people doing "bad things."

I guess this time, it's decided based on other things. It has thrown off my predictions. Unless, that is, that blu-ray ended up embracing the industry already

Blu-ray has embraced the industry already. Actually, there's several pr0n titles already available.

Not sure why you would want to see that kind of stuff in HD.
You'd be able to see the scares from all the boob jobs. Not attractive at all. XD

Yeah, Blu-Ray never went Disney.

Disney went Blu-Ray.

I have no idea where the rumors started that there was no Blu-Ray porn when I've seen it from almost day one available for sale on-line.

[quote="Razer"]I understand that Blu Ray holds more and looks cleaner but for my money I want to see ADVANCES. The dvd copy of something should have the movie and some extras...the HD-DVD or BluRay version should have the movie and a Jennifer Lopez-sized buttload of extras. So far the only things I'd bother to get on either format would have to be tech heavy sci-fi movies so I can see all the "Making of..." stuff.[quote]

I know what you mean. I don't know if you have the Pirates of the Caribbean Blu Rays, but with all the info those disc can fit, all should be in 1 disc and yet, each of the movies has, you guessed it, 2 Blu Ray discs in the package. No wonder they're so freaking expensive!

They probably have two disks not because the information can't fit, but because it's easier for people to have the extras on a separate disk. It really is a logical decision from a technical perspective-- you don't want them to have to wade through too many options on one disk, what with subtitles, languages, scene selection, and all that on the regular movie, having all the extra stuff would just be confusing for the modern consumer. ^_-

Shan hit it for the most part.
Consumers like to be able to put in a disc and the movie just start playing.

That's one of the reasons I like the Blu-Ray popup menus so much!

In other news. Universal officially announces it's going Blu!

Breaking: Universal Studios Goes Blu

Universal Studios Home Entertainment has officially announced that it will release its titles on Blu-ray.

Though details of the studio's transition away from HD DVD were still sketchy at press time, Universal Studios Home Entertainment President Craig Kornblau officially confirmed the move in a just issued statement:

"The path for widespread adoption of the next-generation platform has finally become clear. Universal will continue its aggressive efforts to broaden awareness for hi-def’s unparalleled offerings in interactivity and connectivity, at an increasingly affordable price. The emergence of a single, high-definition format is cause for consumers, as well as the entire entertainment industry, to celebrate. While Universal values the close partnership we have shared with Toshiba, it is time to turn our focus to releasing new and catalog titles on Blu-ray."

Universal's statement this morning comes only hours after primary HD DVD-backer Toshiba announced that it would drop its support of the format. Universal was the format's most ardent studio backer, having released titles on HD DVD exclusively since the format's inception.

Well with Paramount switching sides last week, it's official.

HD-DVD is history.

But for those interested in bargain HD movies... You can get the 360 drive for only $50.
