I bought my car from a place in Maine that usually does repairs. They're working on getting into selling cars as well, and since they knew my family pretty well, there weren't many problems.
Well, the check engine light came on really quickly after I bought it and was on my way someplace, so I called. They had me bring it back, and said my O2 sensor was being weird, but it might work itself out. Well, the light came back on the next day, and they had me bring it in that weekend. The owner of the place said that they'd replace th eO2 sensor at no cost if it became a more persistant problem.
Well, fast forward a couple weeks, the stupid light was STILL on, and I called them, they looked at it, and said they'd order the part, and call me when it came in to get it fixed.
I bought the car at teh beginning of April. End of May I still hadn't heard from them regarding the O2 sensor. A couple weeks later, my car had gotten to the point where it was not getting any real power at all, and I called them irate (I had to have it towed to them...). "We called you and set up an appointment, twice, and you never showed up."
So they made me pay over $200 for the cat. converter because it was messed up by the O2 sensor not working right.
I walked into the office, and demanded to see where the appointments were made. The appointment book was with their accountant. So, I asked if they were made on any Saturdays because that was th eonly day they were open that I was off work. Then the guy pointed to the sign on the wall that said that they were closed on Saturdays for the time being.
"I work Monday through Friday, 8-5. If I had made the appointment, I would've KNOWN you were closed on Saturdays for now, because I would've asked for an appointment on Saturday."
They said they had called numerous times. Well, there were numerous family members in their dbase, so I asked them. None of them had gotten the calls either. I paid for th epart because I needed it for my car to run and needed my car to get to work, but OMG was I pissed.
My dad went and talked to them a coupel months later.
Those appointments had never been made. They had never called me. |
