Atlanta's _AND_ Chattanooga's (yes they are having the same issue) gas comes from a small handful of refineries that are _ONLY_ in TX. That's why we've has such bad gas problems. Also the ultra-low surfer gas as required by the EPA is the other reason our gas is so high. Remember when uur gas jumped from $1 a gallon to over $2 a gallon overnight a fwe years back? That was the roll-out of the ultra-low sulfur gas and it's production has started to cost more and more hence our gas prices matching those of places where the cost of living is generally 2x or more of ours. |

Yeah I recall the gas issue a couple years back as well when we had the lowest price in the US and then shot up. I figure it's all a test to see how much we'll pay for it.
Chris and I have been carpooling THANKFULLY so it's only required one vehicle to fill (premium, blech) but we luckily found a gas station that seems to sell out of everything but premium AND keeps its prices low. We stopped last night and pulled right up to the pump.
I'm waiting for the Pickens Plan. http://www.pickensplan.com/theplan/
Boost rural America's economy, task US car makers to embrace total natural gas vehicle construction, wind power and less dependency on environmentally unsound, unsustainable resources.
It may make TOO much sense to actually be embraced. Thank you conglomerates, corporations and big oil. YEEHAW! |

QT is supposed to be at 100% by tomorrow.
I witnessed a beautiful thing today @ a QT where the attendants were actually out there drecting traffic...It worked perfectly, and I was out in 10 minutes.
I'm happy to see QT holding pretty firm on their prices through all this...It's been a solid $3.97 the entire time at my regular places. |

A friend of mine was laughing his ass off about all this since he has a car that can run off diesel or veg oil.
Surprise he hasn't been carjacked. |

I remember back in 2001-2002 sometime while I was living in Yuma, AZ, there was a major issue with fuel costs and my parents actually both had to put locking gas caps on their vehicles because my dad went to go to work one day and his tank was almost empty after he had just filled it on the way home the night before.
Came in handy a couple years ago when the gas prices in Maine went over $4 a gallon... |

It seems to be passing.
The QT across the street from my office has had gas the past 3 days and I just got gas for Shan's car this morning... pulled right up to a pump... no lines or anything.
Still can't find supreme for my car though. |
