Anime - A simple question.

I have to side with my brother on that one since Japan titles Disney's cartoon movies and all other American shows as "anime"((like when the Powerpuff Girls and other Cartoon Network shows like Scooby Doo were brought over, they were still titled as "anime?")). Literally it means "animation," or cartoon. However, I can see where people draw the conclusion that anime is basically Japanese animation, mainly since the word itself is Japanese and, as an "otaku," we tend to use Japanese words and phrases every now-and-then. I still refer to japanese animation as "anime" myself, only because it differentiates from the American(or generally otherwise) ideal of the "cartoon."

I ramble to much and contradict myself, so I apologize for that. : D I'm just saying that anime means "cartoon," but "cartoon" means something different to most people than "anime" does.
