Game: Yugioh Duelist of the Roses
System: PS2
I'm not gonna do a complete spoiler and maybe I'll update it as I continue through this totally fascinating game but here are a few things you should know.
Hardest Opponent: Bones, without a doubt.
A wimp in the cartoon series he is the killer here. Why? Because of the way the game is structured (meaning it's actually been tuned for fair play, what a concept). You have your deck but each card has a point value and your deck must be equal or LOWER than the value of your opponent's deck. Bones's deck is 795 points and with a 40 card deck that equals an average card value of less than 20 points. Yup, no Blue Eyes, No Dark Magician, no anyone who's anyone unless you also balance it with wimps (like Kuriboh). You'll have to use a team of one type and load it with power ups to really have a chance of winning and forget outright beating him. That's not gonna happen. You'll have to win by locking him or outlasting him. Once he gets Pumpking out, you're through. And before you decide to load up on magic cards I'll point out that the best ones cost 80 points each. 795 point limit...you do the math. The biggest problem is that by the time you face him you have your deck loaded with good cards so you'll have to take them OUT and build a weaker deck. There's the challenge.
Best Monster Card: Aqua Dragon.
I had never heard of this card before the game but it is a complete killer. I have yet to meet a card it cannot beat straight up. Why? Because of it's Effect Ability. Whenever it is engaged (whether you initaiate the fight or not) it tramsforms the square it's fighting in into water. This neutralizes every card I've found so far. He's quickly become the anchor man in my deck even though I only have one. There are more powerful cards but only before they attack. He's listed at 1750 attack strength but once the fight begins and his effect kicks in he jumps to 2750 and drops the opponent by 500. I'd guess that against another water beast it might be closer but I've yet to play anyone that uses water monsters so I can't guage that. Overall, he defeats any single monster card that is not equipped with a power up card or has a boost effect (like Shadow Ghoul). Trust me here, no one takes him out except maybe Ultimate Blue Eyes...if he's in the game. A note, I didn't give Weevil time to get the Perfectly Ultimate Moth out, I'm not that confident in anything. LOL
That'll do it for now. If I find anything else out that doesn't totally kill the game I'll post it.
Have fun! |
