ShadowBane - Initial Reaction

Ok, last night I picked up a copy of the MMORPG Shadow Bane. Yes it is one of them monthly pay thingies but the first month is free and I felt it'll hold me over till they release and fix the bugs in Star Wars Galaxies.

On initial view the game is solid and runs like greased monkey turds, greased monkey turds running quite smoothly after all.

The character creation is kind of D&D refined in the fact that certain races can't be certain things, IE Dwarf can't be a Thief or a druid. And Non-magic classes can't use magic. However I think you can buy practice and training sessions and learn the spells but I'm only level 2 so far.

(Level 2 Healer Dwarf to be precise, I'm shooting for Paladin or Evil Paladin)

At char creation you select what KIND of char ya want but at level ten you're forced to refine your choice. IE Fighters can become Swordmasters and other fighter classes. Healers can be priests, Paladin's, and what have you. Druids become druids, Rangers, plant thingies. And finally rogues become assasins, thiefs, political leaders...hehehe

There are traits and skills you can buy in the beginning and the graphics are WAY better than Everquest could hope to be plus you get a 3D camera IE free-spin.

And after you emass some moola you get ta have the ability to build a house/town/city/guild-hall. And wage wars with others of said likeness.

So for an initial reaction the game is really good. Wishfully thinking it'll keep me entertained up to if not passed the 31 day free trial.

I've looked into this game for a little while, can't play it though cause my comps a piece, but it looks like a solid title to me. If i had a good enough comp i'd go out and get it.

I tend to stay away from traditional mmoprg's these days as they all seem similar e.g. set in the same era (medieval) but I do have to agree Shadowbane does look interesting and I may try it one day but for now I will stick with Anarchy Online Thumbs up

Ok, I've all but given up fighting the Scorn Server so now I have a Ranger in Treachery by the name of Vinny The Snake.

And since the Treachery server goes down as well ~sigh~ I have a Mage (future Channeller) in Fear by the name of Magix Mc Mage A-lot.

I play Magix on Monday through Thursday and Vinny Friday through Sunday. Only time I switch is if a server goes down of course.
