Ok, here's how I rate movies.
For some reason movie theater seats are uncomfortable to me. If I begin to feel the seat then I know the movie is not keeping my interest. Now I LOVE action flicks and I was totally digging the action scenes in this movie. Had me on the edge of my seat, but all the yammering on was WAY too long and WAY too deep, and I will have to watch this again I'm certain to even pay attention to what the architect said, because frankly... he talked for WAY too long.
And how many times do we need to see the Trinity flashback.... and how long did that rave scene need to last? Love the music, but let's move this movie along shall we?
This movie made my backside hurt three times, meaning what was a 2 hour and 18 minute movie could have easily been condensed into a 1 hour and 45 minute movie.
Blah blah blah... ACTION YES! Blah blah...soft core pron....blah blah blah... ACTION BADDABING! blah blah blah.
Now I love the Wachowski brothers, and I love their work, but 1 was fluid, this one relied WAY too much on the fact it has a sequel coming out so shortly and if I might be so bold to say contrived and predictable... I got no great sense of how dangerous the "only survivor" was and therefore wasn't biting my nails WISHING for the next movie to be out STAT!
I know, I hate to dissappoint in my lack of enthusiasm but they needed to give me something more. |

I agree on the "action scenes were getting way too long, really" part ... I mean, even if you happen to have enjoyed them totally, what will happen when you'll see an other movie? You'll be decived because it's not "as good" or *gasp better ... well that's just a possibility.
O and my favorite character in the movie is the Oracle's body guard. Why? Because from the day I heard him say ....
!!!!! spoiler ahead !!!!!
"On ne connais que ses vrais amis qu'en les combattant" ( ya, I saw it in french, but anyway the translation must be something like, "we only know our true friends by fighting them" <_< )
I feel like fighting my best friends!
best friends me

It was pretty kickass |

perhaps if you started actually typing out "you", but I digress.
with regards to the movie, the beginning fights were a little uninteresting for some reason, and some of the later ones went on a little long. It's still a merry little movie, though. |

Interesting views Doot... I can see where you're coming from, from a movie-goers standpoint..
I suppose my expectations and satisfaction come from the views of one that incredibly enjoyed the game Xenogears. Reloaded was paced a lot like a game, in that there were action sequences that were played up and very game-like and "hardcore", and then there were dialogue cutscenes in between that explained plot, contained character development, and whatnot. I was digging the plot immensely. I don't really give a damn if the dialogue contained long words and metaphores that would take a while to understand. That makes the movie even more worth it, because I enjoy figuring those kinds of things out. The movie was certainly advertised for the general public, but like Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within (which also was), not everyone is going to get it the first time and therefor like it. For me, half of the fun was discussing the movie and plot and visuals and sound design afterwards with my friends.
But I reiterate, i'm probably just wierd. |

I actually agree with pretty much everything Cobbi said. This movie isn't designed for you to get it on the first try, just as the first was. Part of the fun, at least in my mind, was staying up until 3am with my friends discussing it.
