Kikaider - Ummm.....

Well, I just got done watching Kikaider which started on the big CN just last night.

My question is for people familiar with the series. 1) Does the animation ever get better? 2) Does the story suck less later?

The animation is kinda good but all the characters go off-model like every 2 minutes. And I KNOW it was done on a computer instead of Cells cause it has a sterile lifeless feel to it. If it was done on cells then SOMEONE fugged up bad.

As for the story they basically tell ya in the first episode, 'Yeah so we saw the Pinnochio movie by Disney and like thought..Hey, lets make a mecha series outta it." If that robot dood gets eaten by a whale I think I'll cry.

But maybe this anime is like Devil Lady by Go Nagi. The first 2 eps. sucked SOOOOO bad but everyone after that has been gold. Which is why I am asking if the series gets better or not.

if it's the series i'm thinking of, then it's old, so there's no way it was done on computer. also, my favorite character is TOTALLY the little flying manta ray things.

Anyway, the story is wierd, but it's not directly the pinnochio story. ALSO, all the robots are insane. and I mean ALL the robots. even the good ones.

Damn, then that opening sequence (If done on Cels) should be shot...Like a lot!

Well, It'd be nice if someone would give me a synopsis of the series. I'll continue to record it and watch it the next day along with Family Guy and Futurama but I just thought it'd be cool if someone would come in here ans either samck my bitch up and turn my pitch up or tell me the series ain't worth it and list some reasons.

It's the remake. Came out around 2001 I think. I think it's pretty cool so far. I tend to like storyplots in my anime.

The big question in Kikaider isn't that he's a robot, or who made him. The big question is why.

As for the reason the characters seem to be off every now and then. The style is ment to resemble that of the original. If you've noticed it's a bit more cartoonish style.

I've noticed that. It did look old but at the same time new so I was getting confused like HORRIBLY.

But I saw the second episode and the series got better. The first one was just a fluke apparently. I like that the girl wants Jiro dead but at the same time he wants to protect her which leads me to believe that Jiro was built to protect the family from that evil flut guy.

But the show is screaming Mega-man too. (It might be the American Dubbing so don't quote me) But Yesterdays eps. Jiro said he felt that himself, the motorcycle, the two bad bots, and the girl feel all the same to him. Which leads me to believe all were created (Girl created using sex and delivery mind you) by the doctor dood who's old robots were taken over by evil Flute Guy and Jiro was constructed to fight the menace.

Just a theory mind ya..Need to watch more.

well its a remake of the origanl 1978 anime

got the entire series bout two years ago

see the thing is the creators wanted to remake it without changing the anime style to much, they said even thought they were trying to make it better than the orginal they didnt want to update it to recent character styles

I have partaken in this and I can see what they were trying to (And in most cases did) accomplish.

My only problem is that it looks a bit too computerish at times...It would have been spectacular Celled but unfortunately Cel anime is a dead dinosaur being beaten with a 2x4. ~sniffle~

Remember that cel animation is expensive, generally speaking. So that style, while not going totally out, is likely only being used to generate the key frames of the shot.

Damn Costlyness! Yeah..But it is a good show but I think the Jap Dub Eng Sub would be better. And on that note why ain't there a friggen box set for Betterman?!
