*could be a spoiler*
Good movie. I don't believe what the reviewers say. Go see this movie. If you read at least SOME form of classic literature (I used to read Dr. Jekyell and Mr. Hyde and 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea when I was a kid) or some of the comic book, go see this film!
Sean Connery, good acting. I mean he fit the part of Alan like a glove. And the cast behind him was perfect too. Lots of action but with a balance of plot with twists and turns.
You'll be amazed by this movie, trust me, or I'll be struck down by a shovel. |

Not as good as the original graphic novel by Alan Moore, and some serious changes made (Quartermain addicted to Opium, Mina not a vamp, Invisible Man a serial rapist, Hyde not needing potion to transform) Personally I thought that Nemo was the best translation, and yes he truly is that much of an ass kicker. The first time you meet him he uses a harpoon gun to blow away a mob chacing Mina and Alan. Worth the money to go see it, but prefered the book more |

The characters were closer to the literary ones, with a few exceptions.
Captain Nemo in the novel 2000 Leagues Under the Sea was Frence (I believe)
Mr Hyde wasn't a giant (but he did need the potion to transform in the book)
The Shirlock Holmes reference was cool.
And what they did with Dorien Grey fit the sinful and corrupt nature of the character. |

Still we can all agree, the critics were blind to this movie and should be rounded up and dragged in the street and shot (like Garfield says) |

I was waiting for this topic to surface, otherwise I was going to start it. I thought the movie was great. Definitely not an academy award winner, but then again, few movies nowadays seem to be anyway. But overall, this was just a good, solid movie. Very entertaining, very fun, and well worth the money I paid to see it. While I'm not familiar with the graphic novel, I plan on picking it up sometime this week and reading it, because persoanlly, I think that this is possibly the most creative and unique concepts for anything. This is also one that I plan on picking up when it comes out on DVD, because I think its just a great one to have around when you need a good movie to watch.
And yes...Sean Connery is THE MAN. Even though he's getting old, he's still one of the coolest guys around, who kicks much ass.
EDIT:
Oh yeah, and the movie critics, in my opinion, can SUCK IT. It seems to me that they pan just about every movie out there nowadays, and LXG was no exception. Being a critic is so BS...how can they possibly give a good review to say, a sci-fi movie, if they hate sci-fi? No matter how good the movie is, the critic is gonna pan is. That's why you should NEVER listen to critics. Listen to friends with similar interests, or find out for yourself. |
