Oooooooo I am soooo happy. My mom brought home a renaissance catalouge with dresses, swords, knick nacks, Roman weaponry, and traditional Scotish garb, etc. Since I started reading literature about Medieval history and the dark ages I have been wanting a dress appropreiate to the time period. In the catolog I have a WIDE variety of dresses all under $200!!!!!! Weeee!!!!!!! I am soooo excited. Rev has also decided to buy something but I won't tell you what it is in case he decides to suprise people, or keep it a secret. I may also get a dagger from LOTR the Fellowship of the ring, or a sword. I can only use it in fencing though!!!! But I like to fence! The dress I pick is going to be sooo pretty!!!!! |

Thank you Tobs and Doot! I am VERY much enjoying it!!!!! Well actually I read somewhere that in Italy and all over women were forbidden to be in any theater and men had to play female roles and dress like them. Interestiing huh? I wonder why women weren't allowed in theater? |

The same reason why they weren't allowed in other places: People at the time thought women should stay home, make and raise children.
However, guys doing girls is totally true. It happened, and still does every now and then in some theatres that try for authenticity... |

Actually the thing of men doing women's parts dates back to the years of Shakesphere. Back then in most King ruled nations (like ALL of them back then), it was common for the royality to decree that no woman should take part in any man's job. One of them at that time was acting.
And it wasn't royal decree, I think it could have been society's fault.
I guess Italy is either maleshovenist (SP?), sticking to Shakesphere tradition, or have really open male actors.
Who knows? |
