I THINK the men only rule was also due to modesty. Men were allowed to do far more than women and women were, as Geron succinctly put it, only allowed household activities. Way back then, it was scandalous for women to show ankles (much less anything else!) and women weren't allowed to show much hip/derriere and hence the petticoats and bustles (frames worn around the hips to hide the woman's curves). Back then, only the whores and scandalous flirts allowed even their petticoats to show. Personally, I kinda like today's fashions ! :love4: |

YEah thats ture Happo. I know all about the fashion of Women back then. I did a research project on it, and I want to be a fashion designer typical to the 1400s-1700s. Its odd but I love it!!! |

To Ultrawolf: I hear ya bro', honor and duty are merely words now, not a way of life. Personally though, I like the Renaissance period, just when the Black Death wiped out sooo many people and every person (peasant or privileged) was an important asset and there was a revival of 'higher purpose' such as art and science (and in SOME cases, spirituality.
To Mika: For someone so young to be interested in such fashions is unusual, but that's what makes you and most of the others on this forum special-original personalities!
To Skylah: *pant* *pant* (Just kidding! ) 'tho truthfully, I think Aiman is a lucky guy! |

Why thank you Happo, there are very interesting people here at PO! I think thats why I like it sooo much! And Sylah thats really cool you make your costume/outfit. I make my halloween costumes (Last year I was an elf, big suprise right?LOL!), knit and sew clothes but nothing as challenging as your PO's costume. I hope it goes well.
Ooooo and Happo one of then main reasons I like the Rennaisance period was all the new art being developed, Even though a lot of it was religious. O yes and the plauges killed thousands. Thats why many mothers didn't grow attached to their children till age 6-7 because of the high death rate at infancy. Just I fact I read about! Also many new painters and artists like Da Vinci and Van gogh (I think?) and maybe Rembrant were becoming well known. Myabe that was later. I dunno I have a book on the subject! |

I don’t like to sew but I learn at school, I’ll do it only if I really have to do it like if my pants or shirts r torn or the button came out and stuffs.. I normally design my cloths and send it to the tailor. |

Hmm. Once again, I fear that I may never be good enough at mant artistic talents, but I think that's because there are so many people who are better than I am.
Relatedly, Happo and Ultrawolf: The organization I reference in my signature would like to see very much the return of honorable and chivalrous behavior. You might want to check them out.
And most importantly: I like older periods of time because I would have wanted to see what life was like back then. Admittedly, without computers and such, I think I'd have a tough time surviving then, but I'd like to hop back and take some notes... |
