Things I like to do - Breaking boards is fun

Today I got my Blue Belt in Karate.

We had our little "graduation" and they let me put on a little show for the parents and other spectators.

I broke 3 boards
Pictures are a little blury... still working on figuring out my new camera... but you get the basic jist of it.

Note: I'm still wearing my Adv Purple Belt in the pictures.

First Break... High punch

Second Break... Jab

Third break... Front Kick

Disclaimer... This is not a correct front kick. I broke the board, but I dropped my guard. Bad Bad Shino!

Anyway... Hope you enjoy.

i wanna take up martial arts with Riva so that we do summat together but we cant decide what to do.i mean my uncle is known all over coz he was the champ in judo and i dont want to be known as his niece.i was thinking about kickboxing but anything as long as it isnt tie kwon do coz a mate of mine does it and i wanna shove her belt down her throat coz she does go on about it and i couldnt bear her teaching me.id die.

Man, I bow to your 1337 front kick breaking board skills ... I have yet to be able to do something constructive (well, destructive) with my legs in martial arts ...

And congratulation for your belt! Funny you talk about breaking boards, last friday I went out with some friend and I found a light steal pipe, and we argued for a moment if it was possible to bend it with a push ... untill I tried and succeed.

Honostly, I prefer to bend pipes then breaking wood, the pipes feel softer, must have been cheap metal, I manage to make a belt with an other one, bending it around my waist. I never broke any boards, I wonder how it feels, must be different then breaking dead branches from trees.

breaking boards is fun, but it hurts a lot if done improperly. also, it depends on the thickness and hardness of the board. some boards feel like you are breaking styrofoam, others feel like you are breaking the ground.

(broke a board improperly once) it hurt so bad...but my freind knows how to break the concrete bricks when kicking them...it looks cool...

riva things id suggest:

kempo karate (most basic form, what most people take)
aikido (training with hands and weapons together, very good one to take)
jiu jitsu (its all about grappling, so if you like olympian wrestling you'll like it)
tai chi (very slow form, concentrates on body and mind)

just search around for any of those, they are all very good ones to take, but some are quite hard.
