yes i finally got a chance to play it and it truly kicks ass. they changed the job leveling system somewhat. you learn abilities from weapons. like a buster sword contains i think mindbreak for soldier and warrior class. once you master the skill on the weapon you can switch weapons and still have that skill. pretty cool. im not too far in it yet but so far i love it. the laws are pretty cool too. essentially every match has a forbidden type of spell/technique/weapon and a favored one. you can get a red card and be thrown into jail on the spot or you can get a yellow warning card and suffer a fine or penalty in the game. one time i broke the no sword damage rule and got a yellow card which made me pay a fine at the end of the fight. if you go to jail you have to retrieve that character from the jail. also you can place landmarks down like in i think secret of mana. overall great game so far, the intro snowball fight battle was fun too.

Mmm, I've been playin this game so much lately <^ ^> Buckets of fun, yep.

So far I've done around 8 missions, got my main character as a soldier that can almost kill a unit in one hit.. My lil moogle dude as a black mage that switches to gunner if he doesn't have any new magic to learn.. My warrior that does nice dmg, and will sooon be a dragoon!~ And ofcourse my white mage, fencer, and archer. But they're not nearly as hardcore as the rest of me crew.

I played this the other day, and I'm going to have to say I liked the job system of the first tactics better =/ The law system I see as a bit of an annoyance as well, but meh

Waiting for someone to trade it in. I know someone's going to go "OMG! FF on the GBA! GIMME!" , play for the first few days and say "omfg, this isn't final fantasy" and trade it in. It's bound to happen.

Happens with everything I buy >.<

And then you get it "gently used" at a much reduced price, right?

The law system, from what I've seen, provides a bit more fun and variety in what happens in battles. Because ofcourse not only do you need to follow the rules but your enemies do too.

True, the job system is more wound around a FF9-style ordeals, but I think overall every job is a lot more useful than they were in the original FFT. For example thieves have seriously gotten boosted up there, especially with all their specialized steal manuvers. Dragoon's Jump may have been nerfed a bit, but they're able to do other very cool stuffs now making 'em a bit more versetile.

9 missions and counting, and considering there's 300 of these suckers I'll be playing this game a long long time.

I dunno. A friend tried to have me play TacticsOgre or Ogre Battle, I'm not sure which, and I kinda hemmed and humphed at it and kinda sucked at it.

But that could just be me.
