It occurs to me lately that companies aren't letting consoles get an established library before moving on. I mean, look at how long the SNES was out before N64 was released. a good 5-6 years, enough to get some great titles under it's belt. AZVegeta, you were upset that MGS3 was being released for the PS2 instead of PS3. How sad would it be if Konami was only able to release 1 MGS because of next-gen console time constraints? A good roast has to stew, and I think that our current consoles, XBOX, PS2, and GC need to stew. I'm looking over my PS2 collection, and out of the 15-16 games I own, I have maybe 3 that I currently enjoy enough to play often. I have more than that in my PS1 library, and even MORE in my SNES/NES library (emulated, but still) I enjoy up-to-date graphics and leading edge technology as much as the next guy, but if this trend keeps up, the PS5 will have 5 demos before the PS6 is released. Look at SEGA. God love em, they fell behind when the saturn bombed and rushed to throw the DC in it's place. I'm not saying it was a wrong move, they were forced to do it, kinda. If I were running Sega, I would have of stretched out the saturn a little longer, taken some cuts, and released the DC with the PS2, maybe have a larger library, and they could have easily won the price wars, perhaps the DC would be a top contender right now. Maybe not, but no one knows. All I know is that if next gen consoles start appearing before I can list 10 games that I truly enjoy on the other system, I'm going to give up on them and stick to my PC. |

Totaly the best/most developed games always come out near the end of a consouls run. developers need time to fully explore the hardware, thats why games keep getting better, there have been several ps2 to come out with graphics no one thought it was capible of just because developers are getting used to it.
just as you said it has to stew to taste the best. |

Indeed. Needs more and better before releasing new hardware. Besides, I'm an RPG player... I want to see what sort of mind-bending tricks you can do to the hardware... |
