A RPG?! YES, a RPG!!!

1) I haven't customized the sprites yet. However, the CT ones are there for a reason: I will manip those to shape each character.

2) The font seems unreadable but that problem is because of this computer's font management system. On other computers, it looks all fine.

Heh, RTP is a nightmare. If I want someone else to play the RPG, I have to send him ALL the RTP files, even the ones not used by the game! This makes for a whopping 20.5 MB to shove through a line. I have DSL so it's no prob for me, but everyone who wants my demo have 56K!!

I found something real sweet while exploring the game's battle editor.

Normally, when a monster attacks, said monster flashes, and that's all. However, in the edit window, I can make it so that an action triggers a numbered switch to be set on or off. Thus, here's how I can work around the limitations to actually show a VISUAL monster attack!!

1) Set the monster to do its attack and put a switch, say, 01 to ON.
2) Set an event that makes it so that when switch 01 is set to on, it shows a battle animation, then puts switch 01 to OFF.
3) Rinse and repeat.

Voila!!!


Other progress:

-Downloaded and edited more MIDIs. I now have roughly 30 to choose from.
-Created some more monsters. I use graphics from Chrono Trigger and Phantasy Star 2 & 4 to do the work.
-Went further along the plot, now incorporating player choices, special events, and key items.

Cameo:

-General Mythral
-Red robes. White-streaked brown hair if you can manage it, plain brown if not. Average skin color, slightly wrinkled if he gets a "this is who's speaking" pic.
-Knows he's smarter than everyone around him, but isn't overt about it. Simply has an air of "I know something you don't" about him.
-Alignment = Good
-Sends the party on a sidequest to find an item to help him depose an evil council member. In return, gives Nyx a nifty weapon.

I found it very fun. I just can wait to see the true character in the place of the crono ones.
