Demon angel

*Disclaimer: While I am not a Boston fan as they do not deserve to win a World Series after selling Babe Ruth to cover a loss on a Broadway show, I also hate the Yankees. This thread is not about expressing loathing for either team, and more about what's going on here.

So, now that in the course of three games the Sox outscored the Yankees 4-1, in ten days have taken 6 out of 7 games, and we are only in April of Baseball, will Steinbrenner begin making some serious changes? If so, what will he do?

Is it time for Jeter to take a back seat?
Was getting A-Rod on the payroll worth it?
Should Joe Torre be let go?
Is Giambi effective at all?

Meh. We'll see what happens come October. Then we'll speculate.

In answer to your questions, respectively:
No
No
No
No

Face it, Jeter is a good player. A-Rod, to put it bluntly, is a waste of money. Face it again, Torre IS a good manager. How many championships has he brought them to? It's his last season anyway, I believe. And Giambi is a loser.

You see the problem is that Steinbrenner is losing his mind. His main concern is no longer winning baseball games. His concern is winning NAME games. On paper, the Yankees look great. As a team right now, they suck. When they started winning championships again, a few years back, they were a team of relative no names, but the old saying "The whole is greater than that of its parts" beautifully manifested itself.

But alas, players retire. They lost Scott Brosius and Paul O'Neill, both GREAT players. Who do they get to replace Scotty? Robin Ventura, possibly the best replacement you could ever hope for. And what happens? He's traded for 3 no names, including a one Aaron Boone, who was recently FIRED for breaking his contract. Good one George.

Then he traded Tino Martinez, a GREAT first baseman, for Giambi. Why? Because Giambi has a better name. And what happens? Nothing, because that's about the sum total of what Giambi contributes to the team.

Now what does George do? In an attempt to buy more of the fans support, he buys the biggest (and most overrated) name in baseball...A-Rod. Does it make any sense? Not really, but that's George lately.

Oh yeah. Everyone made such a big deal about this Soriano guy...how great he was. And what do they do? They trade him! WHY ARE YOU TRAGING GOOD PLAYERS YOU IDIOT?!

Anyway, thats it for my rant. I am a Yankees fan, and I will never abandon that. I have lost respect for Steinbrenner though, and until he gets his act together, I must commit the biggest sacrilege a Yankee fan can ever commit, and I must say only two words:

GO SOX

GAH!!!!! *explodes*

eh...i have to agree with you in every aspect but one: A-Rod

While i do think that getting him was really just a name thi9ngy on steinbrenner's part, he has actually been contributing to the team.

As for Jeter, i like jeter...he is probably one of the best players ive seen...so i dont think he should take a back seat, because he's necessary for that team unity. There is always ONE player that is needed for that unity. I find that Jeter is that one. Back in the day, everyone was, but now, its just riding on Jeter's shoulders.

Giambi...1 word: Goodbye. He sucks, to be blunt. He's a waste of meat and steroids. Getting rid of good ol tino for this jerk was a pretty dumb move on steinbrenner's part. And as for the earlier mentioned trade of ventura for some bums and boone...i cried. Robin ventura was quite possibly at the peak of his career there, and steinbrenner just pitches him to another team for a retard like boone, who's only contribution to the team was in last year's world series, when he hit a game-winning homerun. Quite frankly, that was to me, a fluke. That shouldn't have happened. The yankees (i know im going to say this) shouldn't have gone that far. But i digress.

Anywho, all i have to say is that steinbrenner needs to seriously get a face-kicking...or else im going to make millions of dollars and take the team over...and thats that Very Happy

That is all
