Just started watching Trigun again with my brother. It's great to rewatch more dated anime now and again. Some shows will never get old. For example....Ninja Scroll was the first anime I ever bought. I bought it a long time ago....way back when there was no such thing as dvd. The great thing about it is it's timeless. It will always be an excellent flick just like Trigun will always be an amazing series. Does anyone else have a favorite older anime....the ones that were still drawn by hand? I guess I'm getting at this....as much as I like so many of the newer anime movies and series, I have so much more respect for the creators, writers, directers, artists, and everyone involved in the amazing titles that started the madness.

I have a lot of love for ones I watched when was younger. Particularly "Little Nemo", which is really great example of anime during the end of the 80s, when anime was in a big transitional phase. A few of the ones the scifi channel played on saturday anime warm me up too, the original OVA of "Bubblegum Crisis", "Iria", "Appleseed", and "Venus Wars" are all semi-sentimental to me as they are anime from when I was at an impresisonable age and still new to anime.
If I had to choose a favorite of the "oldie but goodies" though, I might have to settle on Ranma. I could watch every episode of ranma ten times and not tire of it. I remember in middle school I would watch the special edition OAV I owned, the only ranma I owned, everyday before I went to school for a month. |
