Toying with this idea...

I think Doot remembers me mentioning the idea of PO tryin to push out a pocket manga(much like how MegaTokyo does)- well, since I've been in a horrid mood lately, I've not been able to sleep- and because of this, I think a lot.
Instead of thinking about what I usually do(and it ends with me bein pissier), my mind ran back to the PO comic idea while trying to sketch some revamps(I'll try and get those sketched and "approved" soon).
Anywho, I know I'm a pretty busy dude(with pages to color and all), but I figure I wouldn't mind tackling this comic idea again- if PO(staff mostly- and this will be, of course, when I finish these revamps). Since the idea is to "probably" send these to print(I don't know how, but I'll try and look that up as I get to it), these will be black and white/grayscale coloring(I have no tones and I definately do not have the time to learn them). I've been told that I might be put on the WW series, so chances are this will become more of a side-project as I get things finished, slowly, but anywho.
The two ideas I had for this is either 1.) adapt a story from the first few PO comics(from the comic section of the PO websites) that will span about 24-48 pages(pretty thin for a pocket manga...but I figure we could add other things to it or something depending on how this all turns out); or 2.) we take a few PO's and throw them in little comic-shorts (probably about 2/3 mini-stories taking up about 10 pages each). ...or it could just be just different little stories trying to cram as many PO's into a book as possible.
Anywho. I was going to PM this to the staff, but I'm lazy. I'm cranky. I'm going to just post it in the Think Tank.

Once more, I will- after the revamps and Dubcee are finished -be glad to take this on myself(I would only need someone to write my ideas down into a script that doesn't suck as much as it would if I wrote it- and I can find a person like that off the PO staff if I need to). Worse come to worse, this just gets posted on the PO site(because of that, everything will be in color; but converted to Grayscale tiffs if printing is a go). I can't promise great art, but I will try- I'll even try and use comic-sized paper at that....but then I'd have to find a place down here and get them scanned(because piecing them would be a BITCH). ANYWHO. So to the rest of the staff, send me an E-MAIL(preferrably the Pocket otaku e-mail address)- not PM(because I can't be counted on to always check my PMs, but I always check my mail) - and let me know what you think about it. However, until we can settle on where we want to go with this comic, I would appreciate it if I was only e-mailed opinions on this whole thing. Suggestions are cool, but nothing too in depth, please.
I shoulda said this earlier, but what I'm thinking of a cover with all the PO's on it...just squeeze every PO we have(once this is started) on the cover...just so no one feels "left out".
The ENTIRE idea of this is to try and build up funds and interest in PO. I think CafePress prints books, but I forget who it was that did that kinda stuff...anywho. So I am going to add that I am NOT DOING THIS FOR ANY KIND OF GAIN WHAT-SO-EVER. I have my reasons for wanting to do this(mental reasons, all of them- call it an attempt to heal an ego), but none of them are material. If I have to, I will pull out my own cash to print these(assuming I have MONEY at the time *looks over at the mailbox angrily*).
Anywho. I'll do some checking up on what place I saw that prints books(for cheap) and get back to you all on this. In the mean time, opinions about this idea and (non in-depth) suggestions about what this project should do(as in storyline/what we'd like to see in it) should be sent to either e-mails:

Hope the PO staff doesn't mind me throwing this raw idea out(especially since I know you/we all have things we need to do before we can even think about things like this). Just wanting to do SOMETHING over here...I'm so apart from the real PO activity that I need to do something to help my mind calm itself down and feel like I'm doing SOMETHING for PO to repay it's kindness to me.

YEP! It was CP. Dunno if that's cheap or not, but that's them. Once more, I will push out my own money(once I GET it...) for this; and I have no problem doing so.
x pages- and prices vary depending on the binding( the furthest to the right is appealing- that or the middle...ugh...but the left...dunno about the spiral thing...). But anywho; pages are B&W with color covers...er...wait...PO uses cafepress, right? So I'm probably just spoutin stuff you all knew o_o.

Oddly enough, I've been thinking of something similar along the lines of this, just what PO would likely be if a show was made out of it. Will type it up and post it here

That would be cool to have some stories based off of some of the finished roleplays in the scenario board.

How bout the Miniopia Fighting Tourniment? First half is the main characters getting their invites, second half is the fighting. Or you could do a bunch of the"origin" stories. Some aren't that big. You should put fake ads for things like Sakura's Pocky and the Kilted Winch in there too. Oh yeah and we could all write fake letters for a letters column. I'm just full of ideas.

har! Awesome ideas peoples; and great ones from you, Gryph- I like the letters column deally.
I think the suggestions brought up about taking the battles from the role-playing forum are great, but for a "First try", I think this issue should start off with the first Pocket Otaku's and the first PO tournament.
...I also think the idea of the origin stories would work best. Perhaps if these work out well, we would be pushing out "origin" stories as extra incentive on purchasing a PO(yeah, you still gotta purchase the comic, but if it looks good enough((HOPEFULLY)), PO will bring in funds from the custom PO's and the origin stories. The ONLY downside is that since each PO is created by each individual on PO, 1.) gotta make sure people understand that all the money goes to PO for site and supplies and whatever, 2.) people might get VERY picky with their stories and demand too much- I don't mind making something look good, but it might be hard to convince people to adjust their stories to better suit my schedule(this is totally with the belief that I'll be runnin through this solo).
But I think the ORIGINS story is the best idea; it was the first one I had in my head when I thought about this too. PLUS, we get up to 52 pages for the books- so that's 2 full-story(usually, comics are 24 pages in story) with 4 pages of nonsense- as well as the covers showcasing the two PO's in that issue.
I still think a soundtrack would be awesome for the comic- but if I wanted to do anything of the "remixing" kind, I'd need my bro to handle that- I dun' wanna assume that others will readily be up to helpin with that. ANYWHO.

Great ideas though! : D. I want to see this comic push through. One more thing we could sell at the tables during conventions ^_^.
