I'm with you on that gallon a day Shin.....it's made me feel just so much better lately

was it hard for you to get used to drinking so much?

Actually I have been doing it a long time. Since I sit at a desk all day. I bring a 32oz cup to wor and make sure I have two cups before lunch, and two cups during/after lunch. Works pretty well. Then if I drink water before or after work, that's just bonus!

So yes the Atkins diet wil jump start your metabolic clock so to speak but it no were says in any health guide "stuff your face full of fatty chicken wings and a pound and a half of bacon as a snack to your 4 lbs burger." The real trick to losing weight. Run, to excersices that include your back "bigger muscle groups burn more calories", and put in less than you take our calorically. This can be carbs, sugars, protiens whatever, just less. Also if your looking to gain muscle mass, which weighs more but is healthier. Eat more protien, your cells can convert it into muscle tissue easier than carbs or sugars.

Couple things. You obviously know what you are talking about so I'm not going to disagree with any of that.

First, What you said is the exact reason I decided NOT to do Atkin's. As I said, the South Beach Diet promotes carbs, but the good ones. Veggies, Fruits, a little chocolate here and there too. It also promotes the good fats. Like nuts for instance. Hi protien is key too. Lots of Chicken, and Fish, and other Lean meats. But not things like Unlimited Bacon and stuff like that. I personally think that is crazy.

Second, I don't think I personally could ever agree with the cutting of protiens. Fact is the average American doesn't get enough protien! I personally will take in a high calorie food or drink if the protien count is very high.

Lastly, I definatly agree with the muscle mass comment. This is why I take in a lot of protien. Because when I work out, I want to gain that muscle.

I have been doing South Beach since January. I've lost about 35 lbs, and I have never once felt a loss of energy. I do 2 hours of cardio 3 days a week and an hour on Saturday. Soon I'm going to go to 1 hour of cardio and 1 hour of weight training. I also started doing DDR in the mornings Wiggle

I have toned up a lot, and my muscle mass has increased a bit, but I still have more work to do.

I'm the same way UP..But since I haveta buy my own food and live with a low-carb nut-job like Shino we have no carbs in the house. So I have no choice but to not eat em.

So I've been doin really well...Had we a buncha cakes and Ice cream n'stoof I'd still be munchin carbs like Pac-man on power pellets.

I would say you are doing pretty well for yourself Az. You do buy your own food, so you are choosing not to buy bread and stuff.

For those who are interested, Az has lost quite a bit of weight since he has moved into my house. Smile

I love water!!!! That's mostly all I drink. Well that and milk and juice. I've never really liked soda, too much sugar and it doesn't quench my thurst. I'm now really into seltzer water and regular! LOVE MY WATER!!
