ooc: this is two posts that I made for ASE Act III. However, I spent a lot of time on the second post and I feel it won't get enough attention for how hard I worked on it so I'ma place it here. I don't know how you admins are going to react to this kind of writing, so do what you find necessary.

DISCLAIMER: It is rather rude and violent for most of the second part, in fact, I took out a few scenes just so I could even post it on PO. It's Rayne and Azurel murdering people. I described, in detail, how these people died, therefore if you do not wish to read that kind of thing DO NOT READ THIS POST. I'm sure this breaks the PG-13 rule but this is my warning against that.

bic:

Azurel knew that there was something odd about the city as he flew towards it. He checked with Rayne periodically in their head, and he just told Azurel that he sensed a greater energy source than normal. Upon reaching the city, Azurel noticed that all of the area in and around the city was not only free of ice and snow, but it was warm. The buildings had been made out of a type of clay that was being mined in town, within the area of warmth. He landed on the tallest building and searched around. He felt a stronger heat coming from the center of town, and perched on the corner of the building, he could see it--a greater fire elemental being held captive. There were two men stationed next to the elemental. They were dressed in all-blue apparel, most likely water elementals.

He thought about going after them and releasing the fire elemental upon the city that held it captive for Mod knows how long. Then again, the elemental might lay waste to the city in one blow, ruining both Rayne and Azurel's fun. Instead, Azurel took off into the air with one, large flap of his dark wings. He circled the city, looking for fun things to mess with and plotting what to do with the women and children.

What are you doing? We won't have the element of surprise.
Can you sense their magic militia?
Yes.
Then you know we don't need the element of surprise. This city will be a mere playpen for us. Besides, I'm too far up for them to realize what I am--they probably thnk I'm a bird.
Fine, but I will kill before we release that greater fire elemental.
Fine.

It was a fairly odd site for both of them. The entire city was made out of this heat-hardened clay material. They even had skyscrapers built, yet, the city seemed to use quite a bit of technology to run. From the containment field that held and regulated the fire elemental, to even advertisement boards. It was all machinery. Azurel reperched on the highest skyscraper again, rubbing the clay with his hand.

"Hmm..."

He brought his arm behind him, with his fist clenched tight. The crack was heard through the entire city as Azurel pulled his bleeding fist out of the half-foot-deep hole on the roof of the building. He grabbed his wrist with his free hand, trying to cover up any cuts that would have gashed his artery. When he released his grip, he saw that his wrist had been spared. He clenched each of his fingers in a flowing motion, one by one, back and forth. Azurel felt and heard the joints popping everytime he moved each finger. The hot air quickly dried up the blood and put scabs on Azurel's hand. He finally looked down at the hole after making sure his hand was alright. The clay seemed to shatter weird, making large, jagged edges.

"It's fairly hard to punch through too," Azurel thought out loud.

He cracked his fingers a few more times, then stood up to view the city.

"Alright, let's have some fun!"

With that, he flew down to the street. His claws locked into a deadly position and he gave himself a sickening looking face, with his mouth open and showing his fangs for any poor soul that actually turned around to see the demon.

---------------------------------

Azurel was walking down the street of the city. He could feel the fear of the people noticing a half-demon walking amongst them. Luckily nobody had freaked out, Azurel preferred to have people screaming for things that he's doing to them, not simply because he's walking down the street. He came up to a crowd of people standing at the corner of a building. They were waiting for the electronic sign across the street to change to "Walk." It was there that Azurel decided to start his killing. Fortunately for the bloodthirsty demon, there was a small child at the back of the crowd. She was about 3 or 4 and holding onto mother's hand without a care in the world. Azurel would make sure she never cared about anything, ever.

He walked behind them silently. Nobody in the crowd knew about the horror that was standing right behind them. Azurel opened his wings, casting a shadow on the back half of the crowd. The adults and teens were oblivious to this, worrying more about how much time it would take for the walking light to change and less about anything else. The child, however, instinctively turned around at the darkness that interrupted her mindless thoughts. Her eyes widened and started to tear up, her lip started to quiver. She was horrified at the sight of Azurel, then again, she'd probably be scared of anybody over six feet tall. This didn't matter to the winged evil, he felt the fear and he loved it. One, innocent child's fear wouldn't feed Azurel's appetite, he'd make the entire city scared of him, starting with this crowd of humans.

His right hand suddenly jutted out from its stoic position with invisible speed. Azurel's hand now grasped the girl's face. Through the openings between his fingers, he could see the ignorant fear in her eyes. She had no idea what was going on, but as underdeveloped as her brain was, she knew she was going to die. The mother looked down at her daughter, feeling slight, irregular tugs coming from her hand. She watched in horror as her child was ripped from her grasp. The child's blond hair was visible behind Azurel's dark hand, it flowed rigidly as Azurel brought his hand--and the limp child--behind him. He quickly turned to his left, eyeing the shock that flooded the mother's face. As he was turning, he was also bringing his arm forward, the child was managing to flail her arms and legs at this point. Azurel finished turning, and his hand slammed the child's head into the wall of the building that was next to him. The soft skull of the child and the pressure of Azurel's hand made blood and bone burst out of the weakest spots of skin as if someone had smashed a grape with their shoe.

A high-pitched scream came from directly behind Azurel, this made his ears perk up. It was the scream of a mother who had just watched her child get torn from hand and then her life. The crowd of people reacted accordingly, screaming and running away. Azurel smirked and moved his hand away from the gore that used to be a child's face. The body stayed stuck to the wall, but with a squish and a pop of wet suction being released, the body fell to the ground. The killer smirked, noticing the pattern of blood on the wall looked surprisingly like a leaf. He turned around and noticed that the mother was still there, frozen in terror. He put his fingers together and locked them solid, forming a sharp spade shape with his hand and claws. He jabbed this into the mother's stomach, the claws ripping through flesh, bone, and organs so easily that if Azurel had not have stopped his hand in the middle of the woman, he'd probably have half his arm through her. Her frozen expression changed, her eyes were widened so much by now that they were about to burst from the pressure she was putting on them. Blood spurted out of her mouth and the wound in her abdomen. The inside of her body was hot like a sick, twisted sauna made specifically for Azurel's hand.

Azurel opened his locked hand inside her body, his palm facing upward, toward her head. He let out a small roar as a black column as energy emerged from her body. It was just slightly bigger than the skull that it encompassed. Azurel watched as clothes and hair singed off easily, then the skin started to disintegrate. Any blood that was visible boiled and evaporated in the beam. Eventually all the flesh, blood, and organs in the beam had been completely disintegrated. The beam died down and Azurel backed up to view his work. There was a body, and for the most part, it was complete. She had arms and legs, fully clothed. The only thing that was missing was everything from her stomach wound and up. Ribs, backbone, the skull, they were all visible and in the hot air of the city. The body fell and the skull smashed against the ground and shattered, sending a small amount of chalky bone dust into the air.

Azurel looked around and found, to his pleasure, that the city was already in chaos. The crowd that ran into the streets had apparently caused several major accidents. There were vehicles and people piled up and destroyed in the street. Suddenly, Azurel's dog-like ears perked up again, he heard the tapping of running footsteps. They were going unnaturally fast and Azurel could sense a bit of magic on him--this must be the first of the militia that's supposed to stop him. Azurel's senses and fighting ability knew where the runner was coming from. He waited for a moment, then spun around and kicked the air behind him and at eye level. A face with a brand-new broken nose appeared behind Azurel's boot. The man's muscles were very unproportional with his leg muscles being two or three times larger than any other muscle. His black hair was slicked back and he was dressed in a very unflattering,, skintight one-piece. Across the chest of the man that looked like he had just stepped out of a child's underbudget comic book were the words "Feren'll Law Enforcement." Azurel now knew what city he was about to destroy.

It took a while before the F.L.E. agent regained his composure, snapping his nose into a bearable position and whiping the blood from his upper lip. Azurel growled and the man dissappeared. The demon jerked his head back, surprise, and perked his ears up to listen for the speedy cop. In a state almost like slow-motion, Azurel could hear every footstep and point out where it was. One step in front of him, too far away to do anything. Another, still in front, but curving to Azurel's right, out of reach again. The third step came from behind Azurel, this one was different. He could hear the connection between the shoe and the pavement like he did with every step, but he also heard his shoe slide in place--the man was turning around to hit Azurel in the back. This was the moment Azurel would use. The demon ducked down, but brought his wing up, into the abdomen of the man. Azurel charged it with energy, something he hadn't done in a while. The energy seared through the man's flesh, but he instinctively picked up more of his latent speed and dissappeared, even to Azurel's trained ears.

Damn, I meant to cut him in half.
Your magic is changing, you're used to using beams and balls and are forgetting how to perform more advanced attacks. Let me have my turn, I'll finish the job.

Azurel nods as the man reappears across the street with a gash in his stomach. The demon's claws begin to shrink and form into regular fingernails. Bones can be heard snapping and popping as Azurel's body type and size was changing. Muscles seemingly deflated and the wings began to melt. The flesh dripped off the bones of his wings and, eventually, the only thing left on Rayne's back was a pure white skeleton of what used to be wings. The bones bursted into dust which was then carried off into the wind. The holes in Rayne's shirt remained and he put his hair into a ponytail, using a very specific and controlled gravity spell to keep the hair in that position. The man stood staring at Rayne, he had never seen such a horrid sight. He was holding onto his gash, which was cauterized and therefore not causing anything other than extreme pain. Rayne was feeling sportsman-like, for once.

"I have an idea," Rayne said, forming Katre in his right hand. "You run towards me, and I'll run towards you. We'll see who's life will end in the middle of this street."

"Ha!," the agent said with a cough, "I'm the fastest person in the world!"

"Heh, maybe in this dimension."
"What are you talking about? Where are you from?!"
"I do not feel the need to explain myself to someone that will be dead in a few moments."
"Stop your boasting and let's get on with it."

Rayne smirked, and there was a few moments between them where nothing happened. The man was scared, but Rayne wouldn't be running, per se, so he couldn't even think of a situation that would result in him even getting hit. The agent yelled and dissappeared, in response, Rayne flash jumped forward, appearing behind the now apparent man. They were both in the middle of the street and the man had a look of fear and shock on his face. Rayne flash jumped again, and again. The after image of Rayne flash jumping could be seen on every angle around the agent. He finally flash jumped in front of the man and gazed at his shaking face. A line appeared diagnally across the man's face, then, thousands upon thousands of other lines appeared all over his body. Suddenly, as if sprayed by a hose, Rayne was drenched in the gushing blood of the man before him. The man fell into chunks, and a pile of body parts lay in the middle of the street.

Rayne and Azurel continued the destruction of the city, switching between the two of them allowing the other to have their fun. Skyscrapers fell, parts of the city blew up, Azurel had made a pile of bodies in the city, then it hit them--the greater fire elemental. The two water elementals watching over the containment field had fled the city long ago. Azurel flew down to the device that seemed to be creating the field around the humanoid mass of lava. Without thinking, Azurel slammed his claw into the device.

NO!

His hand got stuck in the device as it started to short-circuit. High amounts of electricity ran through Azurel's body, making him unable to move. This continued for almost 15 seconds before the device blew up around Azurel. The force sent Azurel flying into the building behind him, his arm was completely burned and bone was showing through holes in his arm.

Dantrel...
No! Azurel, I can't revert if you're unconscious!

Rayne struggled to break through to reality, but with Azurel slipping in and out of consciousness, it was very difficult. He finally managed though, with Azurel's wings becoming shadows and returning to Rayne's powers. Upon reverting to Rayne, he felt the rush of pain as if Rayne himself had experienced the event first-hand. He screamed as loud as he possibly could, his face turned beet red and his veins were popping out all around his neck. Rayne tried to get a grip on the situation, but the pain was unbearable. The field around the greater fire elemental dropped as the device exploded once more. It was furious, being a fire elemental meant that you were born with a temper, but even still it had been locked up for years and it had a right to destroy everything within miles, even if the person that saved him got caught in the blast. It started to fold its arms around itself and the lava that it was made of started to boil. Rayne could feel the immense power that was building up inide of him.

"Shit!"

Rayne put his left hand over his wound, even though the pain almost put him into unconsciousness himself. A black aura began to form around his hand but the wound wouldn't accept it as a suitable healing source.

"Come on!"

Rayne kept looking back and forth between the elemental in his arm. He wouldn't be able to survive the blast. Rayne was panicing: breathing heavy, sweating, yelling. He knew there was only one thing to do. Back when he was a child, attending the Academy with Therin, he was was the head of the class in healing arts. He had never performed those arts since getting out of school, since Therin got a better grade than him. It was the only thing that he was better than Therin at and that sad excuse for a mage managed to surpass him in even that! Rayne lost all confidence in his ability to heal and eventually secluded himself for many years. Before Rayne had become a Dreadlord, he actually had a friend. One who fought by Rayne's side. One day, Rayne's friend was struck down by their enemy and Rayne tried to heal him. He kept thinking about how Lews could do it better, and would have just to shove it into Rayne's face. The jealousy of Rayne kept him from performing the healing spell properly and his best friend died in his arms, Rayne blamed it on Therin and has hated him ever since, always looking for the opportunity to kill him for the death of his friend.

"Damn you Lews Therin!! I'm better than you are!"

Rayne yelled this at the top of his lungs as he could see the explosion coming. The greater fire elemental had released every last drop of his energy onto the world around him. The arura around Rayne's hand changed colors. What used to be the darkest black was now the brightest white. The energy shot at Raynes decrepit arm, completely enshrouding the arm in white energy. Not only did it heal his arm of the recent wound, scars from old battles dissapeared. Rayne stood up and flash jumped as far away from the city as he possibly could. Ontop of a hill overlooking the city was where he ended up. The explosion covered the city in a sphere of pure lava, the heat from which reached even Rayne and the snow that he was standing on melted.

Rayne looked down at his hands as he felt the healing magic fade into his body and become dormant once again.

"Heh."

He turned around and noticed a much larger city, most likely where Demonic and Grey were heading. He began walking, a trenchcoat formed around him and he put his hands in the pockets, dropped his head, and pretended like nothing had happened. He focused his memories on the murderous raze of the city and his powers grew back to a familiar darkness.

ooc: I worked harder than usual on this and I want detailed feedback, even if it's people calling me twisted and sick for murdering a little girl in such a manner. But mainly I want feedback on the actual writing.

Alright. Your descriptions are coming along quite well, however, your style itself still seems...slightly awkward in places. I'm not sure how to describe it, but to give an example:

You wrote:

I would have wrote:
The agent uttered an unintelligible war cry, and then vanished again, charging straight forward at speeds no human could ever hope to accomplish. In response, Rayne vanished altogether, reappearing in the same fighting stance, but a few feet in front of his starting position. The agent, moving at speed, was given no time to react. Before he could stop himself, he streaked to the end of the street, across the T-bone intersection, and slammed face-first into the concrete wall of a warehouse which rested there, sending cracks spiderwebbing violently across its surface. He staggered backward, grumbling to himself. His nose had now been dislocated twice in half as many minutes. And then, with a flash, there was Rayne, right before him for a moment and then gone. Then again, slightly to the right, and then gone again. Rayne flash-jumped seemingly at random about the now frozen agent, upon whose face was a bewildered look which slowly began to metamorphose into shock, fear, and above all, pain.

And then, unexpectedly, Rayne stopped. He appeared in front of the stricken man and, raising his sword arm perpendicular to his body, banished Katre with an air of finality. Blood fountained upward, covering Rayne from head to toe in a thin layer of red spume. The result of his handiwork, thousands of infinitesimal body cuts, collapsed the now unrecognizable body of the F.L.E. man to the street with a wet thump.

Not that, looking back on it, my version is necessarily better, but do you see the difference? It flows a bit more smoothly, I think. Bah, you decide.
