The Opening Ceremony was Incredible & Awesome, I love when the perimeter of the field of play the history of Greek civilisation was depicted, starting from the Minoan age to the present day, through works of art. I thought they were dummies but they're actually real people, very interesting.

My favourite sports that I'm trying not to miss are Aquatics - swimming, diving, synchronised swimming & water polo; Gymnastics - artistic & rhythmic/gymrama; Athletic; Hockey; Football and Beach Volleyball.. damn those athletes are so sexy and hotz, all muscles in their speedo and tights.. lol

Sadly, Malaysia only send for Badminton and Sailing... and I dont think they'll get any medal..lol.. hmm maybe we have chance in Badminton.. just maybe.. we'll see..

I liked the pool and the burning rings..After that the opening ceremonies turned into: "Ok so the Greeks have drums! SHUT THE F**K up about it!" and the ever present, "How many F'ing countries are in this thing? If there's a reason for nuclear arsenal the Olympics is it!"

Some of the news anchors that I get were talking about the discussions made as to whether the Parade of Nations should be shortened, but ultimately they decided that since the Games are about the atheletes, that the Parade should not be shortened.

As for Opening Ceremonies, I liked it, especially the artistic collage. And the music for me was wonderful, so I suppose different tastes and all of that. I look forward to watching a lot of the competitions for the next couple of weeks (and if there was a live webcast I could stream from here at work, I'd be really happy.)

Gymnastics is my favorite.
Male and Female. Both are pretty freaking incredible if you ask me.

The opening ceremonies should be at the end of the olympic games and the only countries allowed to participate are the ones who won gold medals. That'd make it more entertaining and shorter.

Hey, Az, meet my friend Zot. Zot, Az. I'm sure you'll both get along fine.

Geez, man, a lot of the countries there are probably not going to win gold medals, but the honor is in being there, d00d. Medals are icing on the cake.

I am a big fan of the gymnastics, swimming, and diving competitions. I would also love to see the marksmanship competitions, but they never show them on TV.

Rant

Since the Olympics are pretty much the only sports I ever watch, I tend to keep up to date on who is winning what, but some of the sports they have now are really suprising.

I was flipping through the three different channels that were showing the olympics the other day and I came across Olympic ping pong or "Table Tennis" as they like to call it. I can sorta except that, there are some people who can do some pretty bitchin stuff in Table tennis. On another channel they had "Beach" volleyball as opposed to normal f*cking volleyball. I think that is taking it a little too far but still acceptable. On the last channel they had Olympic Badmitten(SP?)...... that is just plain unacceptable. Whats next..... Olympic Crouqet(SP?)?

Seeing as how they have made some of the most ridiculous things Olympic sports now days, I think they should appeal too the new generation. I want to see Olympic Soul Calibur, Street Fighter, Guilty Gear X, Goldeneye, Counter Strike, Armored Core, or anything else that would appeal to the rest of us gamers. This is an outradge. I know there are a lot more people out there that can play Soul Calibur than Badmitten, or Curling(SP?).

Thats just a thought I was having during one of my rants with Dai this morning and I thought I would share.

I agree with faye, I could have made the Olympic team for Tekken 4, and been on the back up team for GGXX.

I'm all for the Olympics but the one thing that just makes me want to crawl under a rock is when they show the US teams that like to throw signs and act a fool. I mean, come on! You are at the Olympics, have a little pride and dignity. Makes me proud to be an American. /sarcasm

PS - I think it's absolutely awesome Puerto Rico beat us in basketball.
