Does using complete sentences make me retarded?

You know... I was only catching part of the little argument that Silver was having with this kid since I was doing something else while playing gunbound, and I'm not sure who started it (probably the kid), but the kid was acting pretty freakin' stupid.

Now I don't care whether someone talkes in aol speak or not. That's their decision. I, like Silver, use complete sentances most of the time. This kid didn't at all. I don't think I ever saw him spell out the word "you." When I'm chatting or online gaming, unless the space is very limited (like pso... gunbound doesn't have this problem) I use complete sentances and correct grammer to the best of my ability. Hell I can type like 70+ words a minute. It's not like I am wasting anyones time. It's not our fault that kids these days are too stupid to spell correctly, use correct grammer, and can only type by pecking. That's what it mainly is, they can't type so they use this bs language that has be created to save time. I don't need to do that and neither does Silver.

You know what, if someone wants to speak correctly and use proper English GREAT! If someone wants to sound like an idiot and use the dumb ass aol speak... Well they are an idiot, but that is their decision. Who am I to say anything about it?

This kid just needed to shut up and play the game instead of trying to persuade and intelligent gamer to sound like an idiot.

Silver, you are definatly in the right on this one! Do you happen to remember the kids name on gunbound, we should look for him on, join his game, and give him shit.

I'd much prefer full sentences rather than shorthand in most cases. A retard is not you Silver.

you know, to add to the conversation i put out earlier...i dont really mind when they use net-shorthand to talk...hell, i can understand it very well, since lots of my friends use it...but its just when people yell at me for writing properly...its just not necessary. This is probably just a further reinforcement of your point Shino...but i just had to get it known

And as far as typing...i think the fastest i got was about 120 words a minute...so im definitely not wasting anyone's time Razz

Yeah, I'm fairly certain that I was preaching to the choir in something like this, but I wanted to make sure that I wasn't some sort of minority. I suppose I'm someone who's watched the language change, and isn't necessarily pleased with the change. With the advocation of the idea that on-line chatting is not the same as conversation between people, and so all the rules of language suffer because of it. I don't mind the occasional abbreviation or sparse usage of l33t. But when it becomes intentionally misspelled shorthand, I get a little annoyed. We do not use Newspeak here.
