Now you've hit a very interesting area here. On the one hand you have the imagination that fills in all the gaps for you. This would be books. With a book the characters are perceived by the reader. They are the exact images the reader conjures in their mind. This is usually the media form for most introverts and free thinkers.
Now this brings us to the video game. For those of us of the television age there is not greater turn on than the flash, the gleem, the in your face visuals that are brought with the cinematics of the gaming community. There is something that the brain automatically does for most people when faces with stirring visual effects if you can place yourself in the scene. This is why theater did so well for Will Shakespeare. He was able to take a script, I'll be it a formative piece of literature, and turn it into something the audiance could touch, taste and smell through the actors of his stage.
For me, I just enjoy the visual of the imaginative now a days. Maybe it's getting older and not having the imagination I once did. Maybe it's that I'm more grounded in reality and the physical than I was at the tender age of reading Chronicals, The Twins, and The Dwarven trilogy. What ever the reason, games rule, books just come in a close second, and Advent Children will be the pixel to destroy this two party discussion come 2005. |

It really depends on my mood. I love both, though if the video game does not have a good story a book is better. I just like a good story, no matter what form it is in. |
