So I got my paycheck today. I was pretty happy because it seemed like a lot of money at the time, but upon getting home and further analyzing the stub, I realized that I lost around 45% of my hourly wages to taxes, and that PISSES me off.

The only thing is that I make tips, which get declared as income, so is it that I'm paying tax on my declared tips as well? That would be the only thing that makes sense because I know the gov't likes to take what others work hard for, I just didn't know it was 45%!

Any in any event, why should I be paying taxes anyway? I mean, I live at home and am still dependent on my parents for practically everything except spending money and gas for my car. So should I expect to get some of that money back?

DAMMIT THIS PISSES ME OFF!!!

~Ming

Demon angel

If you make under a certain amount for the year, you don't really have much to pay in taxes. Last year the only amount I ended up paying was like $500 for the self-employment tax, and that was my only federal payment to make.

But yeah, fucking government, this is why we need a change in leadership. Because we are not the ones who 45% of our income should be taken away. It should be coming from the top 5% or higher really, as they are less likely to spend it.

Actually that's why we should eliminate income tax and inact a spending tax.

How about no tax, everyone fends for themselves, and I get to keep my paycheck? Survival of the fittest!

I wouldn't mind just a spending tax myself. And when the hell are we going to get ride of change I am tired of dealing with fractions of a dollar, why can’t we buy every thing in dollar increments?

As I understand it Japan does something similar ot a psending tax. ITs like 17% roughly? But that could be dated information. As far as the stupid amount of taxes your paying in, Ming, you might wanan look into that. You may have declared somethign incorrect on your W-4 or requested a stupid high withholding on accedent (I do this intentionally so I get more back at the end of the year). One thing about the little guys paying in taxes, though, is that we usually get some/a lot of that back in April or whenever you file.
