Ummm... yeah.... so I liked X because of the.... costumes?
Seriously, I really do like the costumes. I want to MAKE those costumes... I have a plan and everything!
Oh yeah, it was also really cool to read the guidebook to my husband while he and Valen (my little one) played the game together (keep in mind Valen just turned three so there is not a lot of "play". But he sure likes to pretend.)
I think that Valen prefered Kingdon hearts though. He really liked Donald... Go figure!

FF8 was good. I really liked the plot and the characters. But there was one thing that REALLY bugged me! The level system.
Let me explain: I'm a trainer. I love training my characters to extremely high levels (I'm still working on FF5 on getting every character to master every class, even though I could walk in and STEP on the final boss). The problem with FF8 is what I can "Disjointed Levels" the whole thing where the monsters get stronger as you get stronger. Now, I'm not saying that this is a bad idea. It could be really cool if pulled off right. I have yet to see this happen, however. When I played through 8 I trained as I went and I came to a point in the game where I had just gotten to the next monster bracket and was getting pummled and the only save point was 15 minutes of play away from where I kept getting killed and I couldn't train the characters that were getting killed because those 15 minutes of game play were with the other half of my party. Basically, every time I saw an enemy I had to run and hope that it didn't kill me before I could attempt it. It took me HOURS to get through a section that should only have taken 30 minutes MAX. That's very frustrating. I had the same problem with Saga Frontier II (I think it was II...) I had to focus so much on making sure I didn't get into that weird place again I couldn't enjoy the game.

I voted for ff3... that game kept me up many nights as i slashed with my twin swords (atma and illumina) trying to gain levels. but looking at the poll, aren't we missing tactics.. or is that there too. I feel lost. :eh: :err: |

Why is it always a freakin' battle of what's better than what? And ofcourse what better thing to compare than FF games. I prettymuch refuse to vote because the whole thing is pointless. I don't care much for the phrase "better than." Final Fantasy is a game. Final Fantasy VI is a game. They're all games. They share things. Someone may like one over the other, and that's fine, but if the only plausable conversation is what was better, it then steps into the realm of absolute. I enjoy all of the games. Maybe I'm just an optimist. Yes, there are things that could be improved. But why bicker over them when we have no say in what happens anyways? I say enjoy them for what they are and leave the analysis of negatives towards the team figuring out how to develop the next game in the series.
And before I open a can of worms, I'm not directing this at anyone, i'm just letting off some steam, okie?
However, on a different note, since the topic isn't quite big enough to make a thread about it, I'm really enjoying FFXI.. I love its style, and how everything that's been developed in the FF series so far has kindof culmulated into a world the exists very uniquely from any other MMORPG. And from what little japanese I know, I can already tell that despite its online format, there's still going to be a storyline formed with various cutscenes involving your character going on missions and the like for major NPCs in the game. It's a definate western influence, but I think once the game is translated and brought out over 'ere, it should fare quite well amongst the crowd. |

Ok, most FJ's know this, and many of my friends know that this is the game that i love the most...it is FFVII
First off, the battle system was really good. I am like Sperrit, where i love to lvl my characters to no extent. By this, i meant master every materia, get the mastered materias, get the gold chocobo, lvl 99 the chars...whatever. I also loved the materia system. It was easy to understand, and also quite usefull at making ur characters much more powerful. But the thing i loved most, was the straight forward attacking. You could, late game, start to nail baddies for 5000+, and when i remade my game, i had cloud doing X2 slash, each slash doing 9999 damage. Another thing i have to bring up, is the massive amounts of side thingies to do in the game. These include Ultimate Weapons, The weapon bosses, the materia search, Final Limit locating, and whatnot.
And to add a further note, demonic is partialy right, wehre i like swords, and obviously, Cloud has a BIG HONKIN sword...so i most definitely love that. But i like it more for the game mechanics, and the plot was actually really good
As for FF8, it wasnt that bad, it was just that i didnt like the battle system, or the fact that one had to be very reliant on GF's for most of the game, untill you were able to draw massive amounts of Magics from enemies. Anywho, thats my .02 cents...hope people understand my view |

Hey Cobbi... I think there was an error in wording. I meant 'favorite,' not 'best.' |
